I think my mind is finally at ease for deleting some cringe-y posts I did in the past.

Now...

So there has been a lot of ruckus around Zombieland Saga after it was revealed that Lily Hoshikawa was a boy in her previous life, named Masao Go. But there is the problem, despite Lily being a transgirl, some are determined to think Lily is still a boy regardless of what the anime tells them. Even if Lily was a boy, she was still treated as a girl by her own father and he respected his daughter’s choice. Lily died by a heart-attack because she started to grow some hair on her chin and she got panicked and died out of shock. It might and seem hilarious at first, but Lily was already stressed at that point, so when she started to enter puberty, it was the last straw for her.

I have personally never seen Zombieland Saga and have just watched moments from it on Youtube, I was pleasantly surprised how good and funny it looked like. But that isn’t the point of this post, I am here to write the difference between trans and trap. Hate me as much as you want, but I will stand by my point.

Trap is used when there is a feminine-looking boy in anime looks like a female and people mistaken him as a ‘girl’ (Felix from ReZero as an example)

or the opposite, a girl who looks like a boy (Like Misaki from Kaichou when she dressed up as a guy to enter a contest or Haruhi from Ouran Highschool when she was mistaken as a boy majority of the series by other characters)

It though feels wrong to use trap in real life as it is mostly used in anime/fictional works in general. I could be seen as a trap, a girl looking like a guy. But I don’t use that term. I am comfortable with who I am.

So what’s the difference between trap and trans?

Despite looking like the opposite gender, the trap is comfortable with their true gender, they want to be pronounced with their true pronounces and be treated like their true gender.

Trans means that the person doesn’t feel comfortable with their biological gender and feels more used and comfortable with the opposite gender. They want to be pronounced with the opposite pronounce and be treated like the opposite gender.

Now back to Lily from Zombieland Saga, it is confirmed she is a trans, stated on Twitter of Crunchyroll and also on the official page of ZS on Twitter: https://twitter.com/crunchyroll/status/1068618427600916482 

Saki reacted in a way which could be rude, she laughed when she heard that Lily was a guy in the past and had the manliest name, but she started to respect Lily and even stated: “Does it matter she has a junk or not? Lily is Lily.”

I just hope you took your time reading this post, you don’t have to respect transgenderism, BUT do not throw the term ‘trap’ around carelessly and think about it before writing anything. Please, I just needed to get this out of my chest. Please, respect the creator’s choice of creating a transcharacter in an anime. Please, respect that it’s confirmed Lily is a trans and not a trap.
