Thanks for following up, I appreciate the clarification.

i’m well aware that the rouven blankenfeld used in hm2 isn’t beard. but if you’ve been in the hm fandom as long as i have, the theory that was big back when hm2 was first being announced was that they were. and...yeah. i really liked that idea.

beard has been my favorite since the first game came out and i’ve put a lot of work into my idea of him. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, i really wasn’t happy with the direction the plot of hm2 took, so i’m sorry that i’m not all that content with dropping everything i’ve worked for, including the name i’ve used for years before hm2 came out.

He’s knelt in front of her, hands taken into his own, looking up at her with a mixture of worry and compassion. Rouven never has been able to stand seeing her upset, especially not when someone’s wronged her.

But her smile comes as a relief, and he cracks a small one of his own.

“Says who? You?---God?” He laughs again, softly, but quiets not long after. Something in his posture changes as he leans forward, propped up on the counter by his crossed arms. The look in his eyes changes as well; none of the light fades, but it’s clear that he’s serious.

Jacob’s statement is enough to satisfy him, and he nods.

“There isn’t a whole lot you can do that’s for nothing, Jacob-----for better or worse, it’ll catch up to you,” From anyone else, that might be intended to be patronizing. A small laugh escapes him, bordering somewhere in between pure good nature and tired acceptance, like he’s had this realization a hundred times. Not far from the truth.
