my thoughts after watching episode 12 of Go For It Nakamura! (with some minor spoilers):
I feel like Go For It Nakamura is a really good example of someone obsessing over their crush and putting them up on a pedestal. Nakamura is super relatable as a shy gay teenage character in a lottt of ways, and he's quite realistic and well written for a show that's mostly comedy. I do think one of his main "flaws" is his tunnel vision on Hirose. That's what the whole show is about though.
Episode twelve was really well done; I could really feel how devastated Nakamura was. It's especially sad because for the first time (on the show), he is confronted with the fact that he is different. And that life is going to be harder for him, and the odds seem to be stacked against him as a gay person. And that the idea of a relationship with Hirose, which he built up so much in his head, might not happen.
The thing is--- Nakamura sees Hirose through rose-colored-glasses. Yes, Hirose seems like a nice guy. But Nakamura barely knows him. Who's to say that Nakamura would even be happy with Hirose? Nakamura has decided that Hirose liking him is what will make him happy, and he has his heart set on that outcome.
I just really hope that whatever ending we get, Nakamura gets to be happy. I'll be happy if he ends up with Hirose, but I really don't expect him to, especially with only one episode left.
Anyway, I don't think the show is about Hirose; I think the title, Go For It Nakamura, could refer to Nakamura putting himself out there (in the process of trying to get Hirose's attention) and making friends at school and becoming a more confident and authentic version of himself. I know we want to see him find love but it's really not the end-all-be-all. I do think if they go the "The real 'Go For It Nakamura!' was the friends we made along the way!" route, it will be way more tasteful that what Stranger Things did.
I think a very common idea people have is that being in a relationship is the only cure for loneliness, and that if you're sad or lonely, a relationship is what's going to fix it. So it really could be a good message that even if Nakamura doesn't get Hirose, he still put himself out there and made friends and came out of his shell a bit, and he's a more authentic and confident person now than he would have been had he decided not to "go for it".
daniel molloy character of all time once again: like imagine you’re a 20-something drug addict and a terrible journalist on account of being 20-something and a drug addict and you randomly meet a vampire at a gay bar and you think wow I might get drugs, gay sex and a story out of this and instead what you get is psychologically and physically tortured by his husband and your memories of it all erased and then 50 years later you’re DYING and those vampires show up in your life again to ask you to write the story of their happy marriage and your memory might be fucked but ON GOD you WILL ruin that marriage if it’s the last thing you do. and then not only do you succeed and walk out of it alive, but also with a bestseller, millions in your bank account AND immortality AND the knowledge that your annoying human ass was somehow the one thing that made that 500+ year old predator so mad that he broke his lifetime vow to never turn anyone. AND, on top of that, you’re out of the CLOSET.
Everyone on the Z-Team has court-mandated therapists. Some of them actually go and want to go. The others can more-or-less weasel their way out of it
Visi cannot. Not anymore, anyway, not after everything that happened with Shroud and taking a bullet for someone and sneaking out of the hospital room. So, she goes to therapy, and every once in a while, she'll say something that's meant to be said in therapy
Knowing this, Visi is given homework. She didn't know therapy gave homework, but now she's got an empty notebook she's supposed to fill with poetry. Poetry! Visi has never written a poem in her life. Doesn't think she's read any, either, unless they're counting music. How the hell is she supposed to get her feelings out like this when she can't even use her words?
After complaining about the difficulty and admitting she's going to give up, Robert tells her to keep trying. When she calls it embarrassing, Robert offers to show her his poetry, let her laugh at him so it's easier to bear the weight of her "therapist's judgment" (because she refuses to believe she's not being judged)
Perfect, Visi thinks, ready to laugh at Robert when she gets these old, busted journals straight from his scarred hands. She eagerly reads through the yellowing pages. It is, at certain angles, embarrassing Robert... but it's also really good. Visi thinks, anyway, since again, she's no poet. There's something about them, the funny ones and the emo ones and the ones she can tell are about Beef and Chase and Robbie and a deep, deep loneliness
Visi isn't going to steal the poems wholesale, but she does use them as an example. At least, she tries to. It is not easy. She didn't realize until she was just trying to replace each word with an adjective. There's something about Robert's poems: word choice, rhythm, line length, formatting
This is when Coupe comes upon her. Not knowing the full situation, she tells Visi that if she's going to copy a famous poet, this is not the person she should be trying to steal from. Questioning why, Coupe tells her that this is Blue, an unknown poet referred to by their most famous work. Their poems are famous for being technically impressive
Visi blinks, "Isn't Robert's hero nickname blue?"
"Yes, it is."
They both question Robert. He shrugs. He wrote poems from time to time because he heard they helped people with their emotions. His first few attempts weren't satisfying, so he started imposing rules on himself: syllable counts, word usage, line lengths, stuff like that. He preferred it that way. It forced him to think critically about what he wanted to say to fit his rules. Also got him to use formatting as another way to express himself
"Do you know that you're a famous poet?"
"... I'm not? I mean, I posted a couple on a blog a few times, but I don't think anyone's read those."
Robert's a famous poet and he didn't even know it
shhhh theyre sleeby 🤏🤏

FINALLY got good photos of my sculpture final. This is my dog his name is Sock.
Look at my fish.
Sokka said “woah that’s awesome” one time to a story Zuko told and he’s so emotionally repressed that he actually fell in love with him
Winter, spring, summer and fall, four seasons, four loves
(i did this art for the zukka week of a couple of years ago but zukka still real and true 🤟🔥)
little zukka thing i miss them
“Why is Toph straight?” “Why is Zuko bi?”
You’re asking why Toph “two DIFFERENT mystery baby daddies” Beifong and Firelord “instalove with the boys his age as soon as he befriends them” Zuko might be boykissers?

Release Legend of Aang theatrically
I'm entering my hot takes era; I think it was a great writing choice to make Aang a flawed dad in TLOK. I think it's actually great that the political landscape in TLOK is an absolute shitfest where it was intended(Ba Sing Se still sucking, Republic City's turmoil with benders, Kuvira turning into a dictator to take control of the Earth Kingdom).
We knew Aang for less than a year of his life as a child. He lived out a whole other life, and he got married, had kids, and had to deal with a million other things that emerged as a consequence of a 100 years of colonialism. He did great in some aspects, no so much in others.
His role as the Avatar, and the last airbender, put him in a position where he could never really dedicate much time to his personal life. Losing an entire civilization means he grew up in a society that is alien to modern times. Children were raised communally among the Air Nomads, parent-child relationships weren't confined. Aang had to adapt to a whole new way of living and culture(Souther Water Tribe) while technically not even being there a lot.
Like yeah, as children we all imagined our favorites to have grown up and been perfect, but I think it's nice that he wasn't. It didn't mean he was abusive or absent. He was a dad trying his best when the world was asking everything of him. He was human, and he fucked up sometimes. Aang and Katara loved each other deeply even through all this.
Kya, Bumi and Tenzin still loved him very much. People seem to think they hate him, but they just have some gripes with Aang. What child doesn't? I think my parents are perfect, but I still have some regrets that I wish hadn't happened.

Eyes
So we all know Robert has those gorgeous doe eyes. That sincere lively brown, the look in his eyes is enough to make any Z Teamer want to do right by him. Seeing the light return to his eyes as he's settled in with them all has helped them grow even fonder of him. He's noticed during team meetings when he speaks a lot of them seem to get lost in his eyes, they still pay attention of course but sometimes it takes them a second to respond.
While Robert is absolutely capable of defending himself (he tore an augment out of a red ring member with his bare hands), there's something about his eyes that some of his teammates would do anything to protect.
Let's be honest, if he weren't reformed Flambae would burn down half of the city for Robert if someone so much as made him cry. he still gets the urge sometimes but also: boyfriend cute when crying, must hold stupid normie boyfriend because he deserves comfort, can't hold normie boyfriend if burning down city, city is safe....for now
Blazer sees so much in Robert's eyes, a brightness and warmth that makes every day as a hero worth fighting for. He is her closest friend, they keep each other grounded, and as Mandy she shares something with him that nobody else has.
Phenomaman can't even begin to verbalize just how much a reassuring look from Robert can be for him. The sincerity in those eyes, the care, it was genuine human compassion, something that he hadn't been afforded often due to his alien nature. Not many people are able to *See* him the way Robert does. One of his new passions in life is now making sure this very small being is thoroughly taken care of and kept safe from harm
For Visi those eyes mean permanence. Someone willing to stay by you even when you've given up on yourself or when others have counted you out. She knows he's always going to be in her corner cheering her on.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head but if anyone else wants to add anything feel free to
Once upon a Wildehopps
I know, it's hard to believe, but I wasn't always a Wildehopps.
When I watched Z1 ten years ago, already as an adult with average media literacy, I enjoyed Nick and Judy's chemistry but didn't think much of them getting together. The idea might have briefly crossed my mind, but it seemed something very remote and for sure non canon.
Fast forward to 2025.
Z2 trailer out, saw the gala scene and I was like: WAIT. THEY ARE CANONICALLY IN LOVE 🤯 (utter shock)
After watching the film: there's no mistake, Nick is crazy in love and every interaction between them and micro expression are proving this point, their chemistry is insane and at least by the final scene Judy is also down bad.
Now I don't get how could anyone NOT see it and call this PG-rated-sexual-tension-escalation-documentary friendship, seriously

Basically Zootopia 2’s Plot
Judy: We have to solve this case and uncover the biggest conspiracy in the history of Zootopia about why we have demonized reptiles so that the greedy rich people who want us dead don’t continue to gentrify their historic neighborhoods and erase the true origin of the city.
Nick: Babe this is how people get assassinated, my vote is elopement.
