Besides english and finnish, apparently the polish language also uses the verb "to ruminate" to mean circling round the same thoughts over and over again with very little result. My polish friend didn't know that it also had a meaning related to animal digestive systems.

In french we use "ruminer" (to ruminate) which can mean circling round the same thoughts but also describes animal digestive systems. I guess we couldn't pick a meaning so we just took both

That's the same as in finnish, english, and polish, then. All four of these languages use the same word for both of these meanings.

I literally made a post about being baffled that it isn't common knowledge to know what a gelding is. I know what a gelding is and I know the verb for castrating a horse in three languages. I thought I was fluent in english but evidently I am not.
