With that said, I will be taking a break from Tumblr™ for a while to focus on all the big changes in my life. I won’t be deleting, I’ll just be stepping away, getting off the computer, and getting out for a bit.

You’ve all been a wonderful audience and I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation for you. It’s been a great 8(?) or so years but I think it’s time now. 

I’m moving to Indianapolis to work on the construction of a new set of tunnels underneath the whole city. A lot of old cities have an aging water infrastructure system where all the rainwater gets combined with sewage in the drains and gets dumped into the lakes (Lake Michigan in this case). 

These new tunnels are going to be used to store all that excess combined wastewater underground rather than having them get dumped into lakes. Then they’ll feed directly into a pump station, where the water gets pumped into a water treatment plant, which will provide clean water to Indianapolis and surrounding cities. 

The project I just left also has underground work where there’s going to be three new subway train stations and a pair of tunnels connecting them all.  Here’s what the front end of one of the tunnel-boring-machines looks like:
