When Stevie Wonder hit his teenage years, Motown nearly let him go.

His voice had changed, the hits had slowed, and some at the label thought the magic was gone.

But one woman refused to believe that.

Her name was Sylvia Moy — Motown’s first female songwriter and producer.

In an industry where women rarely got credit, she became the pen that changed everything.

When Berry Gordy considered dropping Stevie, Sylvia begged for one more chance.

She promised she could write a song that fit his new sound — something youthful, soulful, and unstoppable.

That song was “Uptight (Everything’s Alright)”, co-written by Sylvia Moy, Stevie Wonder, and Hank Cosby.

It became a massive hit in 1965, reviving Stevie’s career and redefining Motown’s future.

Sylvia didn’t just write words — she wrote redemption.

She went on to co-write “My Cherie Amour,” “I Was Made to Love Her,” and more, shaping the very sound of soul music.

Behind every legend is a voice that believed before the world did.

For Stevie, that voice was Sylvia’s.
