Season 2 just confirmed his fatal flaw is Personal Loyalty, and it’s officially the most terrifying thing in the show. He was told by the literal Fates that his loyalty could destroy everything, and instead of trying to "fix" it, he doubled down.

He really told Annabeth: "If I had to choose between saving you or saving Olympus, I’d burn it all down." 😭

Most heroes try to save the world; Percy is only saving the world because the people he loves happen to live there. He’s not the Chosen One because he’s "good"—he’s the Chosen One because he’s the only person dangerous enough to burn the world for his friends.

The shift from "funny blue cookie kid" to "I will end the Gods for you" is the only character development I care about.

Really wanted the new cute boy at camp to be the one to that would give her the chance to go on a quest. So much so she watched him like a hawk the first two days they knew each other. Luke says she’d usually had given up by then with other new arrivals.

Refers to him as SUNSHINE one of the first times they talk

Told Hephaestus that Percy, who she just met like a week and a half ago, is better than any of the gods. And that he makes her want to be a better person

Gets teased by her brother figure for “sounding like an old married couple” when he sees them bicker

Hates when he tries to sacrifice himself for her in any way

Initiated their first hug (and their 2nd one later)

Gave him her necklace when she thought he could die giving the lightning bolt to Zeus, doesn’t even ask for it back until he’s been back for like 24(?) hours

Chose his side and defended him over her older brother figure she’s known for years

Wrote him letters for a year

Protective of him before learning that Tyson and Percy know each other

Has to gather up the courage to ask him to go on a walk with her 🥺

Can’t lie to him

Worries that he’ll end up angry with her for hiding things

Does everything she can to try to save him

Tries to comfort and reassure him when he needs it regardless of not getting a lot of support/comfort in her life

Looks at him like THIS:

The anger, the helplessness, the fear when he realises that Annabeth's dying, while Clarisse refuses to give up the fleece. You know, he would have gone to war, there and then. That he would have gone to any extent to get it to Annabeth in time. I know percabeth stans (me included) squeal about our OTP, but for me, this scene establishes Percy's fatal flaw.

It could have been anyone outside the cave instead of Annabeth. It could have been a close friend like Grover, a mean frenemy like Clarisse, an opponent like Luke or even a nameless camper who has only smiled at him once. If they were in a life or death situation and Percy had the power to change that outcome he would do it. Even if it jeopardises the quest, even if it challenges the authority of the Gods, even if it means you're playing with fate.

Percy is gonna lose it in season 3.
