Tarot in itself is an experience. Known for its ability to predict events and read energy, it is a spiritual tool which many find intriguing. Often, these cards are related to witchcraft with a variety of cultures, practices and religious beliefs that of which are heavily associated with. Many view these tools as âSpiritualâ and âMagicâ while others view it as a âfortune tellerâ. However, what many fail to realize the structure behind Tarot and how is it almost always accurate? Why do we resonate? Or perhaps if youâre a beginner tarot reader; how can I let it resonate?
A Beginnerâs Mistake ććŠè çéèŻŻ
One biggest mistake a beginner commits when they first get into learning tarotâwhich we are all guilty ofâIs heavily relying on a guidebook. Tarot works by intuition. Its meanings will change depending on the query. A guidebook wonât be able to help you when a querent asks an ambiguous question which no tarot card holds the exact meaning or message for. When you are reliant on a cardâs meanings or keywords or perhaps a guidebook, you risk yourself of weakening your intuition and shutting out your ability to connect with your deck.
In order to understand your cards better, you must first connect with it. Itâs not aliveâyet until you connect with it. When you do connect with it, the spiritual essence you give it with each reading you perform you give life to it.
âHow do I spiritually connect with my decks?â First and foremost, shadow work of course. This is the basis of spiritual growth and healing. But for the basics, shuffling it from time to time and pulling one card. Another key aspect is to lessen the need for looking up each cardâs meanings, instead, interpret the image that stands out to you.

I pulled out; Auspicious
Deck: LĂłng Tarot éŸććĄçœç
First, what do you see? A dragon, right? Looking at this card alone you wonât have much to say of it. However, the key details are all around it. I want you to observe what else do you notice in this card. There are fireworks, clouds, and the background gradientâs ranging from dark to a bright.
Next, you assign the meaning you associate with the visuals. For example, I interpret this as; âA dragon looking forward for whatâs to come next in the futureâ You might be wondering âHow tf did you get to that conclusion?â The answer is simple. Notice how the Dragon is looking up at the sky? We donât know what theyâre looking at but we do know from their eyes theyâre looking forward to something (or how I interpret it at least.). Another interpretation Iâd like to add, especially with the visual elements of which I mentioned earlier; âA dragon has finally reached the sky, lifting itself up from darkness. Fireworks call to celebrate its arrival, however, the dragonâs focused on whatâs to come in his future.â Ultimately with the imagery alone, it can also be interpreted as someone coming out of a dark place and wanting better for themselves or it could even mean someone who wants to know whatâs going on with all the ruckus (especially if you interpret the dragonâs expression as confused or curious).
Notice how flexible tarot cards are? Its meaning changes each time and you must trust your intuition and your ability to analyze the imagery and the âfeelingâ it provides. If these cardsâ meanings are flexible, you must also be flexible. This is the first step to connecting with your deck in a spiritual level.
Though of course, there is no fixed way of interpreting and identifying tarot cards. When you feel stuck and do not understand how to interpret a card, you can look up what it exactly meansâOr better yet, what the elements you notice in the card could mean.

âWhat do dragons symbolize?â âSpiritual meaning of fireworksâ âCloud meaningsâ etc..
Remember, flexibility is key.
Applying Psychology ćșçšćżçćŠ
Tarot is not fully spiritual, it also psychological. It bends to the mind of its reader and it reveals oneâs behavior. It relies on the readerâs experiences and wisdom gained through their own experiences. This is why a lot of people resonate with readings. It is because the readers themselves have already experienced a similar situation or knew of someone who was in this situation.
Another reason why it is advisable to stay away from tarot when you are in a state of anxiety, fear, depression, etc. Your cards will pick up your energy and will continue to send you towards a downward spiral. Though it is unintentional, this is why you must always be mindful and trust your discernment. As a reader, it is easier for your cards to absorb your energy than the querentâs. Hence why it is always necessary to cleanse your cards bimonthly (depends on how often you want) especially if you also read for others. Tarot is not portal, but a communication channel with one of its key aspects to communicate is revealing the psychological state of oneâs being.
You do not need to have a background in psychology, just beginner friendly level knowledge or at least a basic understanding on human behaviorâespecially if you frequent love readings (or spy on people). And no, I do not mean pop psychology.
Growing up, I had always been intrigued and fascinated about psychology. Particularly, studying human behavior. Alongside my studies, I was also getting into tarot reading (I was just a child in elementary school during all of this, Iâm turning 21 soon). And with this knowledge, It was easy to connect my psychological learnings onto my cards and my âperson of interestâ alone.

A querent asked me âHas my ex partner moved on?â
I pulled out; Knight of wands
Deck: LĂłng Tarot éŸććĄçœç
An Amateur would scoff and say âYes they have and are pursuing or chasing after xyzâ. Especially with the characteristics of the Knight of Wands (and mostly those represented by the wands court cards). Court cards from the suit of wands, especially the Knight of wands, are considered to be very passionate individuals driven by the thrill and the chase. They are mostly shallow, seeking attention either sexually or perhaps validation.
Now this is where Psychology will come to play. My answer to their question is âNo, they have not moved on. If anything, theyâre too proud to admit it and could even be exploring their options head on (referring to the plenty of fish in the sea quote because of the numerous fish in the card).â. Especially if their ego took a hit from the break up, it is natural for someone to immediately feel the need to run and chase after thrills to fill the void and suit their ego. Mind you, the querent revealed their ex made a dating profile shortly after their break up.
We all know that Fire means passion but it is also dangerous. It burns the strongest and the most powerful flames, and it can either consume and destroy you or die out and leave you in the cold. This is why I may associate people represented by court wands as either egotistical, passionate, sexual, or perhaps avoidant.
Avoidant, how exactly? Well, they refuse to sit with their emotions and heal hence why they run off to seek short-term pleasures to distract themselves from feeling something. They view cheap thrills and infatuation as healing while also destroying others in the process. That is how fire works. The more you feed it, it consumes. And when it consumes, it becomes powerful. And when it becomes powerful, it destroys everything around it.

In order to understand and master tarot, you must first get in touch with your spirituality by learning to become flexible in your interpretations. Other than that, you must also understand psychology of human behavior most especially if your readings are often based on love, romance, drama, etc. A cardâs visuals alone is enough to explain the how and why behind a personâs behavior and feelings.
When you combine both spirituality and psychology, your approach to tarot will become insightful and ârelatableâ. Your accuracy as a reader will gradually improve when you understand the âHowâ of spirituality and âWhyâ behind the psychology revealed to you by tarot.

Similar to recent pile, your prime cell might also be the rational or logic cell. However, it can also be the Debate cell or the Silver-tongued Cell. Maybe even the Wordsmith cell. Either way, youâre really good at talking. Very good with conversations (not all, but some) especially when it comes to debates, logical arguments, research defenses, reasoning, explaining, and even persuasion. Not gonna lie, a lot of you can even be manipulative just with your words alone. Your cellâs ultimate goal is to always have the upper hand or take advantage of a person or situation to get your goal. For instance, getting out of trouble or convincing someone why your argument is correct and theirs isnâtâmaybe even convincing your parents to buy you something they said they wouldnât. This cell is also clear cut and doesnât beat around the bush, you communicate clearly and express yourself straight away. You got no time for âwhite liesâ or âsugar coatingâ. You have a sharp tongue and thatâs your Prime cellâs sword. A lot of you, your prime cellâs goal is literally your Intuition. This is either literally Intuition cell or Sixth Sense cell. Maybe even Telepathy cell. Ngl, didnât the author Donggun Lee mention Sixth Sense cells are the most dangerous cell of them all? Itâs because theyâre really strong and when their visions are REALLY POWERFUL it can destroy an entire village! Like how yumiâs sixth sense cellâs lightbulb shattered from how strong his intuition and yumiâs gut feeling was. Majority of those who picked this pile are either tarot readers, or are really good with divination. If not, youâre probably impressed or surprised by how accurate your gut feeling is. Thatâs because your Prime cellâs duty is to receive visions from the future and predict outcomes. It knows when somethingâs about to either go bad or good, and it knows when the person everyone likes is actually a horrible person deep down. Either way, your Prime cellâs goal is either to make friends or gain validation through popularity, perhaps your priority might be receiving compliments or having people admire and respect you. Your Prime cell thrives in crowds and friend groups, it does not want to be alone it was to go out there and socialize and try new things. You can also be really empathetic and adaptive hence why you find it easy to connect with people around you and with your environment. Anger incarnate was so mad she didnât want Yumi to get into a relationship ever again, however, Yumi was mature enough to tell her to step down because she wants to be happy. Eventually, Love cell was banished to space lol. Your Prime cell is similar, like it turned into an evil incarnate but because youâre too young and not too mature enough, it took over your little town. However, it isnât exactly an evil incarnate. If anything, your cellâs purpose is to accept endings for new beginnings to enter your life. Some of you, your Prime cell is the Resilience cell. Either way, your cellâs purpose is to help you survive. Perhaps a lot of you grew up poor or experienced homelessness, This cell decided to step up and wanted you to get by with whatever you can get and with whatever you can afford. LMFAOOO perhaps some of you were raised by penny pinchers or that you left home too young and you realized âDang, Iâm brokeâ. However, because youâre used to doing all of this by yourself and being independent, you donât know when to ask for help. If you do not remember, this is Yumiâs ex boyfriend Wook, not her former crush & Woongâs bestfriend, heâs a different Wook.
This is funny but your prime cell is either Duality Cell especially if youâre usually two faced, or literally the Love cell! If not the love cell, something about duality. Some of you may be in love with love or enjoy romance, you seem to be powered and motivated when youâre in love or when youâre in a relationship. Eventually, Love cell was banished to space lol.â Just like your pile, your Prime cellâs purpose was to help you make decisions for your long-term goals. However, something may have happened that either caused frustration or confusion as I suddenly saw your Prime cell became indecisive and perhaps maybe even stuck. Perhaps a long term plan of yours that youâve made since you were small was turned around because of a set back, or something in your life made it impossible to achieve it as you realized âLooks like I canât ever achieve this anymore.â Because you were so fixated on this goal, or have a fixed mindset on this objective youâve failed to be flexible and adaptive to life. I see a lot of envy and bitter jealousy here with eye rolling. I'm hearing "They only have clear skin because they're rich" "They look like that because their daddy's got money" etc. LMFAO?? I'm a filipino and I'm hearing the word: "Kutis mayaman" which means "RIch people skin". Those described as "Kutis mayaman" have clear, smooth, glowing skin which could be why people envy you. For some of you, people assume you're lucky or you were born lucky. You have the look that can attract envy but also money. You may attract rich old men, provider men, mature men, etc. Mostly older men lol. Some of you may even be in the socialite circle or have connections with elites or politicians or other rich people.
