Tent company Tentsile recently added three new models to its range of suspended tents.

It revealed Trillium, a small, stackable, versatile three-person hammock that can sleep up to three persons, Vista, a two-layer tree tent, and the biggest tent in the range, Trilogy – a massive communal shelter capable of holding six people, with three separate sleeping areas and a central canopy.

In 2014, Tensile revolutionized the world of camping by unveiling a suspended, portable tree houses – the Tentsile Tree Tent.

Tensile was invented by designers Alex Shirley-Smith and Kirk Kirchev in 2012, and picked up the 2015/2016 IPSO BrandNew award. As part of its environmental initiative, it also plants three trees for every tent bought.

Paul Jackson, a British artist based in Toronto, creates stunningly detailed and dark pen-and-pencil drawings of various animals with their skeletons and sometimes organs lifting out of their bodies. By treating them with respect, the pictures of their insides look more like mystical anatomy lessons than roadkill.

Jackson started drawing when he was 5 and always thought that this was what he’d do for the rest of his life. Though he toured with a band for 8 years, it seems like this just might end up being true!

Ken Kawamoto, a software engineer by day and gadget inventor by night, likes to “break the barrier between the digital world and the real world ,” and he has done just that with his latest invention – the Tempescope. This little box can create real raindrops and clouds and simulate lightning and sunlight to show you the weather forecast or real-time weather display.

The device interfaces with internet forecasts and weather programs, meaning that you can use it to tell you what the weather will be like tomorrow, or to find out what the weather is like right now for friends and loved ones around the world. Unfortunately, the box doesn’t create snow!

Kawamoto has released the code and schematics for his device on open source, meaning that anyone with the technical chops can make one for themselves. For the rest of us, he will be launching a crowdfunding campaign later this year.
