He mentioned something in Episode 3 about how the actions of mundane forces in the daylight might be more terrible than any supernatural movements in the night. And-

That’s the thesis of WoD. IRL or in a supernatural world full of Werewolves and Vampires and Ghosts, the levers of power and the forces that impact people’s lives are largely the same.

In WoD those forces are dressed up in a thin veneer of the supernatural, but they are still readily mapped onto real life issues if you dig even the tiniest bit past the surface.

World of Darkness is a universe where the writers will grab you by the collar and say: “See that blood drinking monster? It can run faster than a bullet, tear steel in half, and thinks of human beings as nothing more than livestock. Its existence is still ruled by the same forces that threaten your real life.”

Fascism. Unfettered Capitalistic Greed. A Lack of Respect and Care for Nature.

It’s a world where fantastical and incredibly powerful creatures still need to listen to their bosses, still need to eat, still need to stay in line so their many enemies don’t turn them to dust.

And no matter how outlandish their plans are, their mindsets are still recognizable. And the forces gnawing at the world itself and the foundations of society are hauntingly familiar.
