For Noah: Sicard was her first ex and they were really good together but because they were both on different crews, they couldn’t actually be together. Plus, once Noah broke free of the pirates she was under servitude for, she wanted a fresh start and no ties to her past.

Enter Emmanellain—he started courting her mid Heavensward timeline and they didn’t officially start dating until after the end of the Dragonsong War. They were happy together and made each other happy but after things calmed down and Noah fell into a life as a lady of the house rather than an adventurer, she found that she didn’t like to be tied down and felt rather insecure about being Emmanellain’s partner, especially since she grew up around rowdy pirates. Emmanellain also wanted to settle down and have kids but Noah knew she wouldn’t be able to do that. They broke up and she was sad about it as was he but in the long run it was the better decision for them both. They’re able to banter and be friends like old times and it’s even funnier that Sicard and Emmallain are essentially shipped by the fandom cause Noah is now dating Sicard again and honestly I’m open for them to be a throuple lol

Atticus’s ex is Jullus and when Atticus ran away from Garlemald, he saw it as him abandoning him and their homeland that he was so prideful of—he thought Atticus should’ve come clean about his betrayal instead of running away so you can imagine how well that went over for him. Atticus was burned and didn’t trust himself to get close to anyone let alone love anyone else (his relationship with his Voidsent also impacts this mindset but that’s a different story) he spends a lot of time regretting what he did and for not trying to convince Jullus to come with him.

And Syren’s ex is Estinien—they’ve got an on again and off again dynamic that has its ups and downs. They bring out the best and worst in each other yet still make it to the other side just fine. But when they first dated, things were rocky and Estinien obviously fell into his revenge that Syren never understood until he went on a whole ass journey with him in Heavensward and when he thought things would be okay between them again. Oops he did it again. So yeah. Syren has some trust issues too but somehow only really opens up to Estinien and can’t seem to stay away. I’m working on developing this one more throughout the expansions especially since Estinien is a Scion now
