People go off about “”“humane meat”“” and not only do I know it’s bullshit but I care and love for the escapees. I scratch their chins, feed them, kiss their cheeks and clean their stalls. Most of the animals at the sanctuary were from these “”“humane”“ farms.

I can’t fathom it anymore. I see people with shopping carts of violence, standing on food court lines to be served the flesh of innocents. People guzzle down milk made for a calf who is now dead.

And all I can think about is all the individual animals…The sweet, soft clucks of the chickens when they come out of the coop in the morning. The loud, excited squeal of the pigs when they get fed. The way that turkeys cluck an alarm when someone enters the barn. The nudge of a goat’s muzzle in the palm of your hand. The enormous warmth of the cows and how they lean their chins in for rubs. How they kick up their heals after being let out in the morning.
