losing your memory

matthew wrapped his hand around the smoothie glass, nodding along to the other’s words. while the summer months were always a welcomed break from work for him, he could understand how busy it could get sometimes. “a vacation is always a good idea. take some time off, disconnect yourself from the work and enjoy yourself. you will feel much better afterwards, i’m sure.”

“Nice to meet you too,Gavin.”She said with a small smile,taking a sip of her drink.”Like a kid?Taking naps is a very grownup and truly underrated hobby if you ask me.”

“thanks,” matthew told the man back as he pulled the chair out from the table and took a seat himself, setting the smoothie down on the table. “no need to worry. i had just arrived. it’s fine, really. we all get lost in our thoughts sometimes. i know i do,” he told the other in reassurance.

“I said, aren’t you the firefighter that came to my house a while back?” Teagan had been trying to place him for the past five minutes. If he hadn’t been clearly zoning out, Teagan would have been more bashful. “You stopped me from burning down my entire house over a piece of toast,” she recalled. Teagan was a notoriously horrendous cook. Gavin wasn’t the first firefighter who had been called over to respond to her cooking escapades, but he was probably Teagan’s favorite. “Y’know, it’s actually pretty chill that I’m running into you. You forgot something at my place the other night…” Teagan rooted around in her purse for a pen, grabbing a napkin and tilting it so the male couldn’t see what she was writing. “—…my number.” Smirking, Teagan slid the napkin over to him.

“um… sorry to bother you.” minjae spoke up once he got the other guy’s attention. “it’s just… there was this 10 dollar bill dropped on the ground right by your table, and i had to check if it was yours.”

Sitting down,Madeleine placed her drink on top of the table and smiled softly.”No worries,I’m Madeleine by the way.”The female sipped on her drink quietly,listening to him.”I know what that feels like….want to talk about it?”

Jacob laughed, shaking his head. “Well we all know there won’t be any noise coming from your tent.” He teased him, playfully shoving the other.

Charlie sighed when she heard his words of support. It was nice to know that someone had her back, despite them not knowing the real reason why she wasn’t drinking and why she was so distressed. “Thanks. You’re a nice guy.. We could use a few more like you around here.” she said with a small smile. She was defenitely feeling much better now. “Nice to meet you too, Gavin. That’s a funny name, by the way.”

“Pace yourself, brother.” He smirked, cracking open his can. “Eh…the fun hasn’t really begun yet.” He shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. “Hopefully the night ends…well.” He said, cocking his eyebrow. “If you know what I mean.” He laughed, playfully nudging Gavin.

Charlotte quickly turned her head to face whoever had approached her. She didn’t want to come off as very alarmed or distressed, but in all honesty, she wasn’t really having a great time. “I’m sorry, I.. I’m f-fine. He just kept insisting and I hate it wh-when people don’t respect my decisions…” she half-lied trying not to choke on her tears. Charlie thought she would be ready to join larger social gatherings where alcohol would be present, but having met with her long lost brother made things even more difficult. “I.. I’m Charlotte by the way. Thanks for checking up on me.”

Jacob walked over to the many coolers and grabbed two beers; one for him and one for Gavin. The two hadn’t gotten to spend a lot of time together lately because of Gavin’s work schedule, so he was super excited to get to see him at the bonfire. He walked around until he found his brother who was standing with a couple of his friends. “Sup, dude?” He said, chucking the second beer at his older brother. @thegavinlyons​

“I, uh, d-don’t dr-..” the blonde helplessly mumbled as the random guy handed her a beer despite her refusing, her fingers curling against the familar, yet cold glass bottle. Her eyes quickly darted from it to the ground, the sound of laughter and drunk people filling the air, making her dizzy. She used to be like this, she used to be “fun”. But now, everything was different. “I said, I didn’t order this! Take it back!” she insisted, her voice breaking and getting louder. The sound of glass shattering broke any other conversation and all eyes landed on Charlotte, who stood frozen in her place, no glass bottle in her hand now. “Goddammit..” she cursed under her breath as she slowly managed to walk and sit by a tree trunk. “For fuck’s sake, Charlie… just for tonight, make it work..” she said, not realizing someone would hear.

It wasn’t every day that Madeleine put a happy ending to one of her cases but when it happened,she always celebrated,even if it was just by herself. Knowing she still had to work for a few more hours,she decided it was not safe to drink any alcohol and headed over to Real Smoothie. She got herself a mango smoothie before she spotted someone sitting alone. Usually,Madeleine wouldn’t just approach people but it was a special occasion and she didn’t feel like being alone. Standing by the table,the lawyer peered down at the man with a small smile.”Do you mind if I sit here?”She questioned but was met with no answer.”I was just asking if I could sit here.”The lawyer asked,now furrowing her eyebrows.

deciding to stop at the smoothie place for a strawberry banana smoothie after his run, ezra figures he’ll walk his way back home, give him sometime to think. standing in line, eyes scanning over the menu as he listens to drake on full blast, he turns his head to see the outcome of the shop when he sees someone staring at him. ezra looks at the empty wall then back at the kid, “something wrong with your eyes?” he quirks a brow. the male’s words making him chuckle, “checking to make sure there isn’t a problem. gotta be pretty damn distracted, almost got your ass beat.” he laughs.

James was on his way home from another failed interview. Why he even attempted to look for jobs anymore was beyond him. Things always went fine with them until the subject of his injury was brought up and well, then there was always a curt nod, and a sudden end to the entire interview. Not that he was all that surprised. However, with the rising temperature as he walked long, he had stopped into the smoothie place, and ordered something. Not quite ready to go home and face his over bearing mother, James looked around the small cafe- Maybe he could sit for a while and just relax. However, there seemed to be no empty tables though there was an empty chair off to the side. The only problem? Someone was already sitting there. So with drink in hand, he had made his way over to them, head tilted to the side some. “Sorry- I was just wondering if that chair was taken? If not, do you mind if I sit? Everywhere else is full.”

”If that’s the case you can keep dropping off these kind of cards every week.” Rose teased him with a smile. Mentally making a note to when she returned to the party to drop off the card where the gift room was. As a thank you Rosalie decided she would buy and have someone deliver breakfast for the whole firehouse.  Her free hand came out to hug him back. “What do you mean?” Rose didn’t care about how much was in the card. If the last four years taught her anything it was that the people in her life mattered over anything else. “You coming by means more to me than anything that could be in that card. Lunch sounds lovely.”
