“It was winter in Yachats and we were visiting the coast at a small motel with the best views that Yachats has to offer. If you’ve ever been to Deane’s Motel, you know what I mean. It sits cliffside with a grassy area out back complete with picnic tables and benches, and is not just pet friendly, but pet welcoming. 💕It was freezing outside, but we went out to watch the sunset and sit cliffside and have a glass of wine. The sun came through the clouds and lit up the cliffs, parting the clouds into tufts. We watched as golden hour turned to sunset and tangerine clouds became pink. The tide came in and the sun made the waves sparkle. It was so beautiful I knew this was the perfect experience to paint on a large scale. It took me 2 years to create it and get it to dry and it weighs in at 40 pounds.
