@nocturnalmuses : you can't keep putting yourself through shit like this and expect me to just sit back and watch. //From Dickers :D //
"It's not that big of a deal, Dick. Really, it isn't."
Jacky was downplaying it and both of them knew it. It was another fight with a rogue that had charged at Jacky while he and Dick were returning back to his home. Though Jacky had emerged from the fight the victor, it wasn't without some injury.
"Besides, it doesn't hurt that bad--" He said, though he immediately flinched at the stinging from the wounds.
"Jacky..." Dick would say as he'd take take a ice pack and carefully applied it against his skin. "Look. You can't just expect me to watch you get into a scuffle and not want to get involved. You're my friend and I hate seeing you get hurt." Dick would say truthfully.
โ Who are you? โ
//From my Dick Grayson if that's cool :) //
"Anyone tell ya it's rude to sneak up on a guy?" A slight widening of their eyes as they pause from where they'd been checking the roof access door of the building they had ended up on top of. They pause for a moment, glancing over their shoulder with a sigh before turning properly.
"Person who got tailed for a few blocks and decided to take advantage of the fact that nobody looks up. Even in this city, which, you would think they would, given..." a gesture toward the vigilante at that with the hand that was not gripping the strap of their bag, looking slightly amused.
Which didn't explain who they were, really, or how they ended up where they are, but it was something. Tan sighed and took a breath, forcing their shoulders to untense. It had been an interesting night, to say the least, so yeah. This might as well happen.
"Tailed huh? Sorry to hear." Dick mused as he'd then begin to sigh. "You need a hand? I could help you get home." He'd say with a grin as he'd then moved closer. "I think it's locked." He comments on the door.
They raise a brow, starting to say something, but seem to think better of it. Instead, they sigh and roll their eyes with a shrug. Tan could have gotten through the door if they hadn't been interrupted, but that was beside the point at the moment. "I... you know what, sure? That'd be nice, thanks. You in town from Blรผdhaven for the week or something?"
Ir might be a slightly overly relaxed way of reacting to the situation, but freaking out wasn't going to do anything worth doing.
"Somethings I like to drop on by. Always nice to visit the good ol' city I got my start in. And I gotta check in on the Bat so yeah, I'm here for a bit." Dick would say as he'd then extend his hand. "Nightwing, hero extrordinare. And you are?"
They sigh and slide their hand into his, stepping closer. They glance over toward the street for a moment, tilting their head before looking back up at him properly. A slight quirk of their lips, sighing. "Tan, you can call me Tan. Sorry to distract you from other stuff, I guess?"
"Nice to meet you Tan." Dick would say as he'd then offer a small smile. "You're all good. This isn't a distraction. Sometimes you help others in different ways. This is just one of them."
"So, where were you heading before all of that tailing trouble?" He'd ask.
"I was headed home. Was not about to head for the subway when I realized that someone was paying a little too much attention to me, though." A roll of their eyes. They had ended up going the opposite direction of where they needed to be in the process of losing their tail, ending up in Old Gotham rather than heading up toward the Uper East Side.
"Heading to the Upper East Side... so... bit of a way." They shrug, looking slightly sheepish.
"Well, luckily for you I can get you there pretty quickly!" Dick remarks as he'd then begin to grab at his grappling hook with his other hand. "You're not afraid of heights are ya?" He'd ask as he'd smiled sheepishly. Then he'd add. "Otherwise, I could always drive you on my bike."
He had found them on a roof that should normally be inaccessible from the street, so the question earns a raised brow, but they don't say anything about that, and just flash him a grin.
"I think I can handle some heights if necessary. I might cling a little, though. Which i personally think is totally fair." An amused expression as they watch him, scuffing theor boots lightly on the rooftop as they consider the situation.
"Alright." Dick would say. "Don't you worry, I got lots of practice." He'd say before adding. "Please, cling away. I don't mind." He'd muse as he'd then begin to point his grappling hook at a nearby building and then would wait for Tan to slip closer. Once they did, Dick would slip an arm around their waist. "All set?" He'd ask.
They slide close, arms closing around him as they glance away with an awkward huff of breath. There's a difference between the sort of shenanigans Tan ends up in and trusting someone else to keep you from falling. Even given the current company.
They pause slightly, then nod, glancing up at him. "Yeah, I'm good."
"Right! Okay." A h8nt of a grin as they take a steadying breath.
"Alright. Here we go!" Dick would say as he'd then begin to swing from one building to the next. He couldn't help but smile as the sights and sounds of the city went past them. "You almost never get to see the city like this when you're a civilian, so enjoy the sights!" He'd say as he'd then begin to use his grappling hook and went towards the next building and then the next.
They let out a small sound of surprise at the first swing. But they do seem to relax slightly after the first, grinning as they hang on. It was fascinating, seeing the movements of the city from a different angle.
They managed to keep surprisingly still and steady, despite craning their neck to look at things between swings. Tan lets out a slight huff of breath. "Always said that the city seems kindest when you're up high."
"Sure is!" Dick mused. "Unless you find yourself in the middle of a rooftop gang war! Those are scary!" Dick jokes as he'd continue to swing from building to building. "So are you from Gotham or did ya come here from somewhere else?" Dick asked as he'd try to get to know his temporary traveling companion.
A slight hum, closing their eyes against the wind of their movement for a moment as they consider the question for a few seconds longer than entirely necessary. A slight huff of laughter at a swing, opening one eye again.
"Born an' bred. Couldn't get rid of me if she tried." A sharp, amused grin. They've left before and come back, the city is in their bones at this point, whether for good or bad. "I'd ask the same. But you know... respecting the whole secret identity schtick."
"Thanks. Build my trust and I may just tell you someday." Dick mused as he'd continue to swing along from building to building. "But I guess you can say I grew up here and I've been all over." He'd say. "What do you do for work?" He'd ask.
A slight laugh at that, the sound caught away by the wind of their passage. They don't expect to be drawing this kind of attention often enough for that to happen. Though it would definitely keep things interesting.
"Work at the public library down in the Diamond District. So you can see how turned around I got." An amused expression, arms tightening around him slightly on a downswing.
"Is that right? Might have to stop on by, see your book selection." He'd say as he'd laugh at that. Dick would then grin as he'd feel their arms tightening around him. "I got you." He'd say as he'd turn his glance towards them.
"It's fiiiiine." Their voice is slightly sardonic, but surprisingly steady despite the occasional sharper intake of breath. They were fairly used to being up high, at least. Even if this method of traversal was... different. A slight laugh, flashing him a grin. "Listen, I would be lying if I said that I wasn't biased toward my own place of work. It's a good job. And I've been having fun with acquisitions recently."
"That's good to hear." Dick would say as he'd then begin to setting down on a building for a moment. "Sorry, gotta take a break." He'd say before adding. "How long have you been at the library? Are you a librarian or just a volunteer?" Dick would ask curiously.
As he sets down for a break, they shift to let go, pulling away a bit. A sigh as they stretch out their arms, dropping down to sit for a moment. While they're a good bit smaller than Nightwing, it's still a lot of work carrying someone like this, so they're certainly not going to begrudge him needing a moment.
A slight hum, peering over tje edge of the roof for a moment before they straighten again. "Been over there for about three years. Had the job basically in the bag before I went to college."
A cheeky grin at that, tilting their head. "Okay, so I might be exaggerating a little, but it was somwthing I was working on getting my foot in the door since then. I love books and research, and also it's a good starting point for working in community outreach."
"College..." Dick would say as he'd find himself reminiscing about his time at college. "Well, sounds like you're in the right place. Especially when you enjoy your work." Dick remarks as he'd then add. "Bludhaven has a couple of libraries." Dick mused as he'd take a moment to stretch his limbs.

"You're bleeding through your shirt. Don't tell me you're fine."
//From my Dickers/Nightwing :D if that's okay//
injury starters | accepting ( @nocturnalmuses )
Jason opened his mouth on instinct, ready to throw out the same answer he always did. I'm fine. The words never made it past his tongue.
His gaze dropped.
For a moment, he simply stared at the dark stain spreading beneath the torn fabric of his shirt, almost unable to make sense of what he was seeing. Blood. There was more of it than there should have been, soaking through the material along his side and trailing in a slow, ugly line toward his hip. His brow furrowed.
Huh.
He hadn't felt it.
There had been adrenaline, the fight, the sharp focus that came with putting one foot in front of the other and making sure everyone else got out. He'd noticed the impact, sure. A hard hit to his side, maybe a glancing blow from a blade or a bullet. Nothing worth stopping over. Nothing that had registered as anything more than another bruise waiting to happen.
The pain arrived all at once, vicious and blinding, as though his body had been waiting for permission to finally acknowledge what had happened. His breath caught violently in his throat. His stomach twisted. Heat spread through his side before becoming something colder, deeper, a brutal pressure that seemed to drive itself between his ribs with every heartbeat.
"Fuckโ"
His hand flew to his side, and the world tilted.
Jason tried to straighten, tried to convince his legs that they were still supposed to be holding him upright, but his knees gave out before he could manage it. He stumbled forward, one boot scraping uselessly against the floor before he dropped hard, catching himself against the nearest solid surface.
Pain exploded through him again.
His vision flashed white.
For several seconds, Jason could do nothing but breathe through clenched teeth, his forehead pressed against whatever he'd managed to grab. His fingers trembled where they clutched his shirt, coming away wet and dark.
The last thing he wanted was Bruce hovering over him, Alfred fussing, or the inevitable questions about how he'd managed to get himself injured this badly without noticing. A safehouse sounded infinitely better. Quiet. Private. Somewhere he could deal with this without an audience.
"Good," he breathed.
After that, Jason went mostly quiet.
He focused on breathing. On keeping his arms securely around Dick's neck. On not thinking too hard about the fact that Dick was carrying him like he weighed nothing when every instinct in Jason's head was screaming that he should be the one standing. The steady movement beneath him became strangely comforting, and exhaustion continued to creep through his limbs now that the adrenaline had completely abandoned him.
Then Dick's voice reached him again.
"Jay... I'm gonna set you down for a second."
Jason's eyes opened.
"Yeah. Okay."
He didn't sound particularly convinced, but he didn't fight it either. Dick lowered him carefully, and Jason immediately realized how much he'd been relying on him. The second his weight shifted onto his own legs, they nearly folded again. He sucked in a sharp breath, catching himself against the nearest surface as pain ripped through his side.
"Fuck."
Dick would grab at several things that he was most likely going to need. His eyes gazed at Jason's own as he'd then begin to turn his attention to the wound. "I'm gonna lift up your shirt." Dick would say, his tone almost asking for permission. Once he'd so, he'd then comment.
"It doesn't seem like you were shot, Jay." Dick mused as he'd then begin to apply first aid on the wound. "Looks like a cut. Must of been that blade, clipped you." Dick mused as he'd then add. "Just let me take care of it." He'd say as he'd get to work.
By the time that Dick had managed to stop the bleeding, clean the wound and bandaged him up it had been about an hour. "Jay, you should be good to go. Just try not to move too fast or anything. I want you to take it easy until that heals up. Doctor Grayson's orders." He'd say before he would then sigh. "You really scared me." He'd finally admit.
โ Who are you? โ

"The heat's killer aint it?" Dick would say as he'd find himself sighing as he'd be perched at the edge of the roof. "At least high up here, it gets pretty cool."
"You do recognize something is special about you." She pointed out.
"I suppose it's good you stopped here again since you got a cold little treat from it." She smiled.
"Suppose so. Definitely the Bat's training." He'd say as he'd then begin to nod. "Yeah. Appreciate the treat honestly."
"The police mentioned once that you guys have patrol routes. I overheard it once after a fire broke out and one of the cops mentioned how unfortunate that it was on a street away from Red Hood's usual patrol route."
"If this rooftop is part of your patrol route... maybe I can sneak in another ice cream treat for you later this week?"
"We do." He admitted. "I'd appreciate that." Dick would say as he'd grin at that. "That would be really nice." He'd say. "I come back this way in two days."
"Same time?" She asked.
"Any preference for ice cream flavors?"
"Same time." Dick would say. "If you could get one of those vanilla chocolate covered cones with the peanuts...that would be great."
"Of course." She laughed. "I'll bring some water for you, too."
She looked down at the city and watched the cars stuck in traffic. "You guys must really love the people of Gotham to keep coming out to help the people. I can't imagine putting yourself into so much danger for any other reason besides love."
"Am I wrong?"
"Yeah you can say that." He remarked. "And not just Gotham." Dick would say. "All over. People need our help all over."
