Day One
January 20, 2017
Obamacare survived Day One of the Trump Presidency
Donald J. Trump was sworn into office as the 45th president of the United States of America today. His inaugural speech did not depart much from his campaign stumps. He depicted a grim and dour picture of the country and vowed to rebuild the nation. His speech was forcibly patriotic, isolationist and protectionist.
However, President Trump did make good on one of the major promises of his campaign: he did not repeal Obamacare.
Instead, Donald Trump signed a series of executive orders at the U.S. Capitol, the formal nominations of his Cabinet appointees, a waiver allowing retired General James Mattis to serve as defense secretary and a proclamation for National Day of Patriotism.
In the meantime, the Trump administration was hard at work cleaning up the White House website. According to The Daily Beast, the pages on LGBT rights, civil rights, climate change and health care are gone from the “issues” section of the White House Website.
