like sorry but what is with this weird line of thinking amongst some people in the marauders fandom that like. parents have to be portrayed as either horrible abusive assholes or perfect loving saints. it's like the norm to write walburga + orion as homophobic bc everyone agrees that they're horrible people, but why have i seen multiple posts of people getting upset at portrayals of the potters as homophobic?? sometimes parents will be incredibly loving + kind to their children but will still be upset when they find out those children are queer. "love the sinner hate the sin" types are like...arguably more common than "fire and brimstone" types. and there is a specific type of pain to having a parent who insists they love you and who maybe you're even really close with but who cannot/will not ever accept a fundamental piece of you. "not my fleamont!!!" ok but it's a lot of people's fleamont actually ???? if u don't want a story where u have to grapple with the idea that a parent can be incredibly loving and still hurt their child then read something else lol
