Fangirling Times

Let me just talk about her real quick. After seeing that post about saying that she could’ve been the unproblematic white girl that we all support for making bops for the summer, I just feel the need to elaborate on her talent!!!

Okay. Well. You all know her from Good Luck, Charlie, probably. You’ve maybe even seen her on Lemonade Mouth. Chances are you’ve heard Ready Or Not and maybe even Hurricane on the radio. LET’S DELVE INTO WHAT MAKES HER ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARTISTS EVER.

Let’s start off with a cover. I love her singing acoustic, but like. THIS IS WHAT MADE IT FOR ME. This is the video that made me full on stan. The way she sings this song it’s just Ellie who? ELLIE WHO?! (Okay. I don’t dislike Ellie’s version. I just love this a bit too much.) THAT BRIDGE!!! THE BRIDGE. THE BRIDGE!!! 

And onto her debut album we go. Hello My Name Is… is A POP MASTERPIECE that people sleep on because she’s still sadly considered a Disney star from the “newer” generation. And because she hardly promotes. But let’s not talk about HWR. ANYWAYS, if we want to support Bridgit, start by SPREADING THIS SONG LIKE A WILDFIRE. I posted this before, but this is Bridgit’s feminist anthem. (Sorry the video is like a lame lyric video. The song is only on the deluxe version, so not many people know about it.) Also I know it’s not like the most progressive thing, but it’s a nice song with a nice message for kids… which is technically her target audience I suppose. 

ANYWAYS, the album is beautiful. Her voice is beautiful. SHE WRITES ALL HER SONGS. LIKE ACTUALLY HERSELF. She’s so involved that she has yet to even release her second album. It’s been almost 3 years. Granted, she’s been acting, but STILL! 

Other notable songs on the album that you really should listen to if you really don’t want to give her a chance:

The Fall Song (THE MODULATION INTO THE CHORUS IS JUST BRILLIANT EVERYBODY IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY SHOULD LEAVE. Also the lyrics are super cute. But really the modulation. Let’s just. Leave me to die from musical bliss.)

Blonde (If you like sarcasm and you’re a blonde, this is for you. Note: THIS IS A VERY SARCASTIC SONG. BRIDGIT IS SASSY SARCASTIC BLONDE. I just need to defend this song because I have seen people in comments say that it’s rude to people with blonde hair. *rolls eyes*)

Hold On For Dear Love (This is a very very very powerful and painful ballad that I’ve held in my heart for a very long time. It also contains my favorite lyric from the album: “I’ve been terribly human.” JFC, brilliant. BRILLIANCE.)

Quicksand (This is the song that takes it for me. Just… the ending is the greatest way to end an album. Even if it’s the deluxe version of the album. This song deserves so much more. Listen to it. Love it. The bridge is so beautiful. This song is beautiful. I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it.)

Bridgit’s style of pop is not really that kind of mainstream pop you hear on the radio (aside from her singles). So just give her a chance. LOVE HER.

Hi, I know I haven’t been posting at all lately (the last being that Shidgit post in April) but I just wanted to say something really really important.

A lot of you have been worried about Shidgit/their status/what’s happening with them, and that includes me (as you may or may not know, I have shipped this ship before they even started dating, god knows how worried I am about them right now)

BUT I think what we should all do right now, while we have no idea what’s going on, is respect their space and respect their privacy. I noticed that in every picture they post on Instagram or every tweet of theirs, there are some of you hounding them with questions about whether or not they’re still together. I was one of those people too, but I realised it does none of us any good to keep spamming them with questions about something that might be hurting them all this time.

I know how you feel. I want to know what happened as much as you do. (because lbr, we all know something did happen at this point) but I feel like we should back off the topic for a little while, and focus on supporting them and their careers for now. Back off their personal lives. They will tell us what’s going on when they are ready to tell us. (or they might even post a shidgit pic to reassure us everything’s still fine and dandy, who knows?)

So yes. Let them have their space. Bridgit and Shane weren’t very public with their personal lives in the first place; don’t make them even more reluctant to share things with us anymore.
