Thank you @tociminna for the tag! ā¤ļø I donāt always get to them, but I love tag games lol.
For my submission, please have both a longer WIP snippet that also happens to include some of the last lines I wrote from chapter two of how to draw the line between wrath and mercy
And there was also, of course, the fact that she was probably the most beautiful mortal he'd ever met, if not unconventionally so.
From her snow white hair, to her constellation of freckles, and gods, her striking eyesā one so icy blue it was practically white, one a golden shade he'd only ever seen in elves. Even the scar that cut across her full, plum-stained lips drew him in, in a way that made him want to incinerate whoever had put it there.
And she'd, against, all odds, seemed to take a liking to him, too. They'd camped together for three nights, and at the end of each one she would seek out his company above that of Astarion or Shadowheartā though he supposed that was a low bar, as they didn't seem to want company at allā or their new gith friend, Lae'zel. She sought his advice first, looked to him with questions, and even seemed to keep an eye on him in battle, though he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.
All in all, he could come to only one conclusion: he needed to be very, very careful. He was treading in dangerous waters, being drawn in by someone at a time like this. It could only end in disappointment and heartacheā no, make that heart break, seeing as his remaining time only had one outcome, and it was his certain doom. Yes, he was going to have to watch himself. He hesitated to distance himself, as he didn't want to sow any discontent amongst the companions, so he'd just have to watch himself.
Almost as if she could read his mind, she sidled up beside him and nudged his shoulder. "Copper for your thoughts?" she asked, that ever-playful air to her voice.
"I was just thinking about you," he blurted before he could stop himself.
She turned pink, and he almost decided to the hells with his decision to be careful, if it meant he could make her blush again.
