“Oh, thank you! It’s a wonderful side affect of being a poetry major. And I can also spend months analyzing a single line of poetry, which would be considered insane under any other circumstance.”

“A poetry major? That sounds amazing! I can get pretty insane about things myself. I studied a lot of languages on my own when I was younger including the dead ones. My father isn’t big on extended schooling but I did a lot of that by myself.”

“I just thought I’d stop by for a visit. No reason needed. I’ve been missing everyone in the family lately. I wanted to see how you were.”

“Take it easy, I didn’t mean to judge. And you’re going to have to, because there is no way I’m going up there. You have fun though.”

What are you? Chicken? You’ll challenge someone else but you can’t do it yourself? Lame.

“That sounds exciting.”

“I hardly think it’s an outrageous request.”

“Well considering you’re speaking to me like a normal person I think this entire situation is pretty outrageous. Did someone drop you on your head and make you forget how you felt about me?”

“Oh uhh I just wouldn’t have gone up to someone and been as blunt as you. You have a lot more courage than I do. Not so much weird but different.”

“Oh, you don’t have to worry about that. I’m really quite boring. The last party I went to was when I was reading The Great Gatsby.”

“Right well you can join my club if you’d like. We can be boring together. I mean you do have wonderful taste in books after all so it’s practically meant to be.”

“Whatever, it just looked like you were going to go up there. Then again, you don’t really seem like the type that does karaoke.”

“Wow. You hardly even know me and you’re judging already. Well wise guy, if I’m going up there I’m gonna need you to go with me. I won’t take no for an answer.”

“Well, perhaps it was just one of those mysteries” 

“I suspect that’s the case. You’re lucky you missed it. And my tip to you is to make sure to be careful at town events. You never know what’s going to happen around here.”

“Oh, goodness, really? How did that happen?”

“I don’t know if anyone ever figured it out. I was also too busy panicking to be worried about how. I just wanted to make it stop.”

Oh you don’t have to worry about me. I can take care of myself

“Me? I’m as good as it can be. I’m looking for a roommate. Or a new place to live, if I can’t pay the rent.”

“Really? What happened to the old roommate, if you don’t mind me asking.”

I don’t know about murder but the last big thing I was involved in was the Halloween party craziness where I somehow thought I was a guy or something. I’ve been avoiding town gatherings ever since.

About a year.
