Years ago there were rumors of something wicked happening — a war of sorts, although these were all just rumors (promised by the Jarl & such) as the threat of the collapsing empire became more and more prevalent. While everyone seemed afraid to label it an act of war, Laila's parents were murdered by anti-Legion sympathizers in an argument that turned into something worse.

She was shipped from Skyrim to Cyrodiil at the age of 12 to live with her aunt and uncle. There, she faced abuse at the hands of the only family she had known. While everyone allowed the abuse to continue quietly, Laila grew resentful of the positive image that her aunt and uncle maintained to the public.

It was at the age of 16 that she contacted the Dark Brotherhood to fulfill a contract for her aunt and uncle. Laila used what property her family once owned to fulfill her payment. Something akin to guilt follows her despite the freedom, and this decision would later follow her into adulthood. After, she works at a local inn and lives in the house they once shared practicing alchemy amongst other typical trades for profit.
