Theory : Knight, Story, FUN Values, why , who and how
(tried to post this on reddit but was rejected to lack of reddit karma lol if you like this theory feel free to spread it around)
This will be a long one, I recently have caught up to deltarune and a rewatched Undertale as a lets play and I realised alot of things that I wanna bring up as a theory. This is essentially my theory on what the game is about, who the knight is and so on a deepdive on certain scenes.
The main Realization and importance are the FUN Values in Undertale.
They are all small events that can happen if you get a certain fun value.
I will go through each shortly but I want to propose the idea that FUN is like EXP ( not being experience points but execution points ) and LOVE being (Level of Violence ) instead of just meaning FUN its not what it actually means. FUN in this propsal is FILE UNIFICATION Value.I'm loopy for these circles of fun ...value value value
What they are is when files from delta rune are leaking over.
The easiest are the Sans and Alyphs call this would be that Alphys from delta rune and sans while being in delta rune is trying to call someone but end up talking to Frisk instead because the fun value ended up aligning.
Clam girl meanwhile tells you your going to meet suzy soon and her whole dialogue is about suzy. someone not there in undertale but agreed she is talking about deltarune's susie
can be encountered with value 66 specifically
the Gaster followers all tell you what happened to Gaster
It makes sense why ASGORE took so long to hire a new Royal Scientist. After all, the old one... Dr. Gaster. What an act to follow! They say he created the CORE. However, his life... Was cut short. One day, he fell into his creation, and... — Gaster follower 1

this could all refer to Gaster falling into the Core but instead ending up in the core library of the games. hes scattered both in the undertale and deltarune assets and is able too see files.
I will come back to the Sound test and Wrong number later.
the last one we will look at is goner kid
the goner kid ( watch the video for the whole dialogue and visuals as its really important.
Goner kid's whole dialouge is about a world where everthing is the same but you don't exist. hes a dead file a corrupted file from deltarune seeing undertale and seeing a world that can work without him there.... the undertale ending shows a world where everything is the same Toriel is a teacher, Asgore works with plants for example.
Sound test: just something quick im bringing up about this one Happy town plays in the werid route of deltarune and gaster's theme is gasters theme. important here is we have yet to still hear meat Factory.
The Wrong Number song is actually really important.
you might ask why but look at the dialogue for it
the beginning starts with some trying to reach out to G. most likely Gaster they try to reach.
they realise who they talking to stop and panic and move to sing the wrong number song.
and who do we know to sing the wrong number song.
kris has the choice to be able to prank berdly with the same song. Anytime someone mentions a phonecall in deltarune its gaster even the call Kris has later that chapter.
" dark... fountain... next..." "church... tonight... "
"... need... soul... Without... soul... Kris... will... "
"Kris... dark world... no soul... can't... "
"... police... sacrifice... next week... "
"... Susie... must not get... guitar... be... right there..."
"... Susie... guitar... code... stop..."
these are all the callers messages they all play a distorted noise and are clearly talking very strained with lots of elipses the normal npc in town later on also does that and I will explain it in a bit. The next dark fountain will be at the church come to church tonight are obvious alerts to kris. kris can't function without a soul. the Police will be sacrificed next week (something i explain later), Susie must not get the guitar the code Susie must not get the code. stop her. kris than fails and the voice tells them they be right there. being in the game files Gaster just flags Asgore'e and Carol's characters to interrupt the Noelle and Susie scene.
Carol pauses ,sees the scene and than only acts up .its not someone who has been informed that Susie had her daughter's guitar its something she processed on scene.
so what does Police will be sacrificed mean? well There is unused text for Chapter 3's Glass check reading: You held the crystal up to your eye. For some strange reason, for just a brief moment, You thought you saw Undyne frozen in Ice.
so why would Kris be in contact with Gaster right? well its about the fact that gaster , the knight and Kris would be working together.
lets look at Kris's actions when they rip out the soul:
- chapter 1 ....eats pie? keeps the soul in a little birdcage.
- chapter 2 they slash toriel's tires and open the dark fountain for chapter 3. it ensures that Toriel calls the police and it opens a dark fountain for the knight to try to grab Toriel and Undyne only grabbing Undyine in chapter 3 due to player intervention.
- chapter 4 the whole scene of the mansion clearly showing Kris is trying to sabotage us and susie from getting the bunker code.
- chapter 5 they pull something similar, open a dark fountain waiting for the knight to grab asgore. and trying to rip up the bunker code.
Kris does not want us in the bunker and they are shown to let the Knight kidnap people specifically.
so whats the deal with that well : Hammer of Justice fight dialouge
Did you ever hear that old tale? Yes, the old tale, based upon the prophecy... Lord of the Hammer.
Chapter 1 The March of the Dark King. The heroes defeat the king and stop the dragon.
Chapter 2 The City of the Shining. The heroes do battle in chariots to save the Queen.
Chapter 3, The Isles of Northernlight. The heroes travel among the islands and catch a glimpse of a lost land.
Chapter 4, The Trials of the Holy Hammer. A great smith gives the heroes a terrible weapon.
Chapter 5, The Field of Pink and Gold. The vast garden is charred in an inferno of jealousy.
..What happens next? Geheheh! Who knows? There was only one more chapter... After that, It all stopped.
That next book, it never did get written. The story, it became so grand, so overwhelming, Some say it swallowed up the author himself.
while the game makes it sound like he talks about himself or even Gaster I want you to look at these chapter descriptions
Dark King ( chapter 1), Shining city with a Queen ( chapter 2), Trials of the holy hammer (chapter 4), the field of pink and gold a garden of jealousy ( chapter 5)
they refrence the chapters of deltarune itself but altered. why is it altered as Gerson says it been rewritten. we have the prophecy becoming books to becoming games Dragon Blazers
this is the most important conversation in the game actually. it shows us something important we are not playing by the original script and even if we were the game is unfinished theres no chapter 7 the bunker is not a complete normal dark world it leads to nothingness!
the author who got swallowed up by the story is also not gaster but Toby. we see toby as the annoying dog in both games and his head in the Omega flowey fight.
the likely hood is Dess, Asriel and the player you were supposed to create in the goner maker were the original game scripts protagonists but the game is not only unfinished but something dragged toby into his own game. and think back to the goners their broken assets. the goner maker's creation was discarded and you were warned noone gets to make choices because this game is running on emergency patch fixes made by Gaster.
Have you noticed how the dog's are replaced by cats?
theres cat bowls around unlike the dog bowls we find in undertale,
the whole dog characters in home town are bandits and constantly jailed.
tasque manager and tasques are cats. Device Friend is a cat.
the plugs besides Ramb are cats!
these are supposed to be the changes Gaster made. Toby uses alot of dogs and dog imagery since the dog code is broken we get cat patches instead.
Temmie is the only save dog because their both dog and cat and Ramb is extremly interesting as he is the one who shows us the Sword route.
look at the secret bosses and Friend and Endogeny
their an amalgamate. theres alludes to kris losing their hand to a pack of cats that are after protein (eggs). the eggs are actually a refrence to a certain bug. have any of you ever played pokemon and got a bad egg? Device Friend is named that way because their an antivirus. there the friend of your device!
I also want you to stare at the sprites for the Knight
The Knight is just as unstable as any amalgamate their visor shifts from being an eye, mouth and visor, they can turn quite liquidy in some of their sprites like when they kidnap undyine or asgore.
You thought you saw through your hand. [Alone]
You thought you saw Susie glaring at you, coldly... [Followed by Susie]
You thought you saw Susie in a far-off window, unkempt and glaring.[After abandoning Weird route in Chapter 5]
You thought you saw Noelle close against you, whispering. [Followed by Noelle]
It looked like everyone else disappeared and you saw Noelle smiling at you, with arms full of flowers. [Flower Kingdom]
I want you to note how often Noelle is brought up to be close to you, Susie glaring aswell. these are perspectives of the Knight. even the hole lines up see the holes in the knight hands?
their a reference to not only Gaster but crufiction the weird route needs a thorn ring an allude to the Thorn crown of jesus. whats more if you mess with the files and bring noelle to a point where you can give her equipment she has unwritten dialouge for everthing except the Black Shard an item only Noelle and Kris can actually equip.
Weird route Kris and Noelle are the Knight and act as a Villian and Matyr. Their job is too overbloat the system with dark fountains and kidnap important npc's for the story not to run properly. While the player is the angel in the normal routes even being shown as we have the characters react to the angel while we see a black screen to look at our reflection, Noelle is coded as a replacement angel once thier the knight a reverse Asriel from undertale situation a human soul with monster body (undertale) and a human body and monster soul ( deltarune)
the lake scene is a reference to mother 1. sans hands you bread that crumbles alot you can't drop :
they will glitch out of bounds or even into the game files
we move to true lab for this next part of the theory
the note here is the dt extractor is deershaped so are gaster blasters and omega flowey. theres also a red heart or soul powering the lab.
I was thinking the lab made it clear that Alphys just found the blueprint and gave the name deterimation to the power she tried to extract from the human souls and inject into monsters but clearly had no idea what she was doing as the Amalgamates happened instead. The dt could instead stand for Data. the Amalagamates like the goners are broken code. but code forced together violently. the amalgamates are sprites and codes just mashed together even photoshop flowey and regular flowey is just that code being mashed together to bring back the dead. the reason photoshop flowey looks like that is because he is grabbing junk assets out of the file to make himself seem bigger and scarier and adjust his values to ridiculous overflow numbers.
Sans seems to teleport and gives you your final speech in undertale judging you the way to get his room keys is to reload the save file over and over during the judement speech Sans has admin powers his shortcuts is him going through the code and just teleporting his assets where he wants to go. He and papyrus seem to be related to gaster and sans seems to have altered papyrus's data in undertale, sans bleeds , papyrus doesn't and when asked people say papyrus is crazy strong. its because sans made it that way because he knows that Papyrus is innocent and would never want to fight its to protect him and make him blend in into undertale more.
It does seem that Gaster wants us to play deltarune but to run his new altered script that both needs a weird route and a normal route. however the normal route is unstable.
this npc normal npc not only is implied to have done something to Onion san but if you look closer at his dialouge its just broken dialouge because hes a goner we know hes one of the gaster followers. and alot of his dialouge is just recycling what he hears and his own dialouge that include the words " espessialy"

...this npc is glitching. they also want to ask for gold an undertale currency realises there is no gold and sets the value to 0 instead. not to mention its implied the takoyaki is onion san who went into the lake the backdoor to the game files.
next to him is the purple guy npc that once dunked into the water will actually melt being fully melted in the weird route. this game is falling apart at the seams.
the angel's heaven in the prophecy thats a normal route playthrough.
if the player is one of the angels their heaven would be to see characters happy and to recruit all the darkeners and have peace but
the characters are actually suffering because their game is corrupting and falling apart.
secret bosses meanwhile talk about freedom the sword route is talking about freedom.
even if you look at the chapters you see it being an alarming theme
chapter 2. queen is trying to make noelle happy ignores everything noelle wants to say
chapter 3 tenna is actively wanting to be interacted and watched ( what the player things the characters need) while in the background his staff , the main characters and things like the premium rooms are falling apart or are just discontent
chapter 5 flowery is trying to keep asgore in a happy world while Asgore refuses.
there was a rewrite in their games at some point. undertale was not supposed to have flowey or sans or papyrus just a story of loss. and deltarune was dess, asriel, a player character probally playing pretend and be about growing up.
flowey in undertale's true ending even grabs Asriel's prince of darkess sprites from deltarunes files. The god of Hyperdeath behaves more like a standard rpg fight and is a polished sprite unlike Omega Flowey. because he just swiped the data of deltarune.
their either on the same engine ,disk or whatever but these games are corrupting eachother and characters being aware its a game is a big plotpoint!
Deltarune's chapters are also refrencing undertale locations in reverse
the closet and toy related dark world- the kings castle at the end of the game
the cyber dark world- Core
even all the toy story hints and his edit of friend in me ( friend inside me) is cleared up by this. Noelle is a friend inside Kris. and toystory is about toys having lives when noone is looking.
coming back to the last FUN Value that i haven't discussed left.
the ice-e wordsearch. my prediction is that chapter 6 is the hospital, noelle will open a dark fountain while distressed and you will have your snowden / true lab level in the hospital and where meat factory will play.
the ice-e employee she is convinced is a cryptid is there, all the festival glitches happened before the hospital. Rudy is dying. ice-e and rudy are ice themed. Noelle has been avoiding the ice palace level when playing with her father.
and you know what where did toby's body go if his face is in omega flowey?
he did post this... gerson also mentions in his dialouge that susie will get the pen to write an ending and she said she wants eternity....so I will see you once chapter 6 drops....i dunno how accurate this is but this feels like it wraps up most of the questions we had
