I travel a lot. Part of the challenge for me is actually finding the smallest exact suitcase for my short stay travels to conferences and meetings. But sometimes, my traveling involves further destinations. This time I was traveling to the US for work. I was going to stay 12 days (13 if you count the day of my departure). The first picture you see in the corner with clothes laid out on the bed is what I usually do when I travel. I decide from advance what I am going to wear and in combination with what. This helps me to avoid cluttering my bag with the stuff I wont need at all but also from the start I know what I have and what will go with what. I packed four (three business, one casual) pairs of pants (now this was a business trip mind you so I was going to have lots of meetings) - that matched the combinations I had prepared to go with them as tops. Then I began layer my suitcase (this was not a small suitcase, but a regular travel size suitcase from Samsonite with hard cover). I usually place socks all the way at the bottom of the suitcase to even out the bottom of the suitcase. I also added some gloves, hats and my running accessories. The rest is easy and depends on your folding technique. This was the first time I tried this technique and I was happy with it as all the clothes went into the suitcase according to the combinations I have decided already before packing (so when I was unpacking at my hotel room, I didn’t have to reorganize and decide what I am going to wear with what, it just came out that way). The other side of the suitcase is as you can see is filled with shoes (I took a pair of flats, oxford like laced shoes, and a pair of running shoes), bags, toiletries. My undergarment went separately into a small soft case I travel with for that. And there you have it. Neat, organized, and not cluttered with the stuff you are not going to need.
