It’s a fantastic classic scent that wreaks of manhood. I decided on the OC this morning because I’d recently sunburned my head and it’s starting to peel a bit. This helped tremendously without getting clogged up. #SOTD: 5/21/2018 - “Erg Fijn” Pre: Hot shower Brush: @thecleanshaver Cocobolo custom w/ @apshaveco 24mm SynBad knot Soap: @westofolympia “Barbershop” Razor: @hone_shaving Stainless Prototype Post: Hai Karate vintage aftershave I’m sending this razor back so it can be a production model, and I had to get ONE MORE shave in before I did. It was probably the best yet. Super smooth and efficient. I’m very excited to see it come to market. Hopefully it won’t take too long. As for the rest of it, this soap never disappoints. It smells great and delivers plenty of cushion and comfort. The brush is quickly becoming a favorite, though if I’m honest, I wish I would have set the knot 1-2mm lower to give it just a hair more backbone, but it’s still very good. I’m very pleased with how it turned out. As for the SynBad Knot, I think it still needs to break in a bit, but a good combination of softness and backbone. Whipped up a great, quick lather. Used this shave to get ready for my first day riding my bike to work this year. #SOTD: 5/13/2018 - “Mother of a Shave” Pre: Hot shower Brush: Scott Pavkovich “Ghost Trails” 3-band Silvertip Soap: @whollykaw “Monaco Royale” Razors: @blacklandrazors Blackbird and Dart w/ @personnablades Lab Blue Post: @soapcommander “Integrity” Aftershave balm & “Fougere Royale” EdP from @houbigant_paris What a wonderful shave today! I got the Blackbird back in the den and it came along with some Wholly Kaw, which I’ve never tried (Thanks, @jakemaranto15!). I decided to do an apples to apples comparison between the Blackbird and the Dart. Both are incredibly smooth shavers and very well put together. If I were to draw a comparison, here’s what it would be. Both have some great blade feel. On a 1-10 scale, I’d put the Blackbird at an 8 for amount of blade felt, and the Dart at around 6-6.5. The Dart definitely feels less “angled” than the Blackbird, which is probably more of a preference thing. Another interesting feature is that with the Dart, the safety bar extends so far out to the ends of the razor that it allows an incredible amount of flow-through. I felt like I could just keep shaving forever without having to rinse it. It’s enough that it could encourage me to develop some bad habits. 😜 Both of these razors are incredibly well put together and I’m VERY glad I got to try out the Dart. I’ll definitely be picking one up.
