I’ve held a very small theory about Kane for a while.

So Kane was the one to send the letter to Mycroft blaming the Pirate for starting the war, right?

Well Kane is always thinking ten, twenty steps ahead. He was planning to kill the Pirate, he prepared for it in the Machine. Obviously he wasn’t sitting around and waiting to get to that point, he tried to capture/kill them multiple times… but considering the giant chess board, he was anticipating all of that not working.

So I think Kane sent that letter long after the Pirate left Marleybone. I think he sent it as a contingency plan— if they somehow DID manage to kill him or stop him from reaching El Dorado, Marleybone would discover what the Pirate had done, and finish them off for him.

1: hero101 earth concept (easy) 2: apocalypse setting (opportunity to be angsty) 3: generic Big City thats painfully inspired by New York but in a "the googlygabas go to The Big City and they must put on the worlds best talent show and win the great big baseball game in order to save their friend who has been kidnapped by the villain who wants to build an Factory over the googlygaba forest and somehow secret agents are there" type way (really fucking funny)
