Even though we may both be at sea, at odds and ultimately on our own adventures, I long for the siren call of us being at port, once more, sharing tale and grog.

Perhaps we were once ships that shared a harbor.

But not all vessels are meant to dock twice.

You speak of interstellar bonds and cannon fire as though distance and friction are poetry. For me, they were weight. They were noise. They were lessons learned the hard way.

If our ships no longer come to port, it is not by accident nor by tide. It is by design. I have chosen calmer waters. Waters where my boundaries are not tested like storm sails, where my time is not treated as an endless sea to be sailed at will.

It is not folly to remember what once was.

But it would be folly to ignore why it ended.
