When you feel the need to apologize for something that's not wrong ("sorry I'm being slow, I'm on the phone with a family emergency"), it is good to try to think of the good that is coming of it!
If you think you are bothering the cashier by slowing them down, but there's no one in line behind you, remember there are others who want them to go faster. You're giving them a break. And even if you weren't, you don't have to explain your situation to a stranger.
And, uhhmmm, other examples!
That was my tedtalk. Hope you enjoyed!
