moon here! hello and welcome to my little book blog!

this blog will be my outlet to rant, talk and post about (obviously) books. some general info about me. my main hobby outside of reading is listening to music. I love taylor swift. Like, she is one my favourite all time music artists other than seventeen. my bias from seventeen is s.coups and bias wreckers are dk, wonwoo, and dino. my favourite colours are pink and purple and I like to think that my aesthetic is romantic academia. i’m also a DC fan tho I mainly watch DC stuff in comparison to reading the comics. I also rlly like anime, my favourite being haikyuu.

Okay, so listen, I do respect this sentiment

HOWEVER

I am kind of getting annoyed by all this focus on the men needing fixing and how hot it is that the men fixed themselves because Jane Austen wrote just as many women who need reformation as men. Pride & Prejudice is about 2 (two) people, a man and woman, who both need to change. Emma is the only one who needs to change in Emma, Mr. Knightley's arc is pretty much just about realizing he loves her anyway. Both Mary and Henry Crawford need to change in Mansfield Park (and they don't) and it's the male character, Edmund, who is saved from an imprudent "I can fix her" marriage, Fanny just says no. Marianne in Sense & Sensibility does need to grow up and Willoughby can't be fixed so she should choose the man who doesn't need fixing.

I realize on some level that the audience is mostly female but isn't it kind of toxic to imply that women don't need to grow and change and learn? Because I know I do. What happened to humility?

I’m dealing with exams season so that’s why I haven’t been around since MF November 😭😭 I will be coming back soon tho considering I do have English lit next sem so more reading and in general next sem is less hectic and heavy than the one I’m dealing with rn. It has been hard for me to talk about how what is going on with Israel and Palestine is affecting me personally, but I grew up in Gaza and most of my family still lives there. My father did not survive the bombings last week and I have not been able to contact my younger sister in days. I am try to being understanding that most people do not have personal connections to what is happening and therefore are justifying their silence, but is heartbreaking to see this misinformation being spread. What’s happening there is a genocide, not a war. It is not antisemitic to support Palestine, it’s not even antiemetic to criticise Israel. There is no grey area or neutrality regarding this, and it is so easy to find resources that will educate you on the subject. It is my people and my home being destroyed so I will never be silent about this, but I please urge everyone to get informed and start speaking up and finding ways they can help.

Guys… I just finished love and other words by Christina Lauren right, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ENDING??? IM??? HUH??? SO MUCH HAPPENED??? I WAS BETWEEN SQUEALING INTO MY PILLOW AND THEN CRYING INTO MY PILLOW BY THE NEXT PAGE WHAT THE FUCK

I actually loved it though. I swear I could’ve finished the book in one day if I didn’t have school, cause I read the first 100 pages the same day I bought it. So uh- 9/10 made me cry the ending was not expected what the fuck lowkey the ending felt smooshed and rushed which is why it’s not a perfect 10 by it was so good what the fuck.

Alls I know about the Grishaverse is what I’ve read from the soc series, so idk if Leigh has explained how they keep track of time- but I do appreciate how the props people on Shadow and Bone didn’t have any regular-ass numbers or Roman numerals on Kaz’s watch.
