With the flash away from their face, the mermaid lowers their hand. They seem to be glaring at Godet, but its hard to tell.

Godet tries to talk to the mermaid again.

"I promise, I'm just here to talk, I won't hurt you"

They observe her with growing disinterest. Maybe this approach is not working, maybe another should be chosen. Thinking on it, Godet concludes that she must be speaking too softly to be heard.

"Hey there, it's ok... sorry for surprising you"

Their hand covers their face. They don't look like they heard anything that she said. In a stroke of genius, Godet realises the light in their face might be bothering them and turn the flash towards the ceiling instead. She can't see them as well now, though.

Oh! Oh. That is definitely a mermaid, isn't it? They recoil from the light that the wannabe reporter is shining directly in their face, but other than that, they don't seem too hostile.

She certainly did not!

There's a thunk on the glass tank. She feels it shake. Godet stepped to the side after taking that picture and did not see how the creature reacted.

She who risks nothing gets nothing. Godet swiftly removes part of the tarp and takes a picture.

Something gets disturbed by the flash.

Oops?

Unable to see anything in the darkness, Godet turns on her flash camera and makes her way to the back of the room.

Godet carefully assert that she is a friend and just wants to talk.

Certain that this was the place she was looking for, Godet closed the door behind her.

After going down a flight of stairs and testing a few rooms... Godet stumbles upon a very interesting one.

"Interview with a mermaid"... Now that's one hell of a way to launch a career!

Definitely tempting, but first she needs to confirm that there is a mermaid. And that said mermaid can understand her. And that publishing said interview wouldn't harm it.
