not that I ever trusted corporations but moomin company suing a trans person out of their money for making their content accessible to wider audiences for free after tove jansson made it a point that she didn’t want her characters associated with disney-like capitalism......depressing and angering to see
here’s what I’m referring to
and if you ever used the moominhunt drive it’d be nice if you can help him, he actually brought the company MORE money by bringing in tons of new fans (remember the moominboom of 2019?) that were very willing to buy merch as well put together rare moomin media that was impossible to find, and now he’s getting punished for it
Please donate if you’re able! But DO NOT mention M**min in the donation message and DO NOT try to harass the company directly. This just makes the situation worse for the victim!! That being said I wanna add some details people haven’t brought up about the drive. Not only was this drive made so the fandom can easily watch episodes not available in their country (M**minvalley & 90s M**min as these were the most popular adaptations in the fandom) but it was also meant to preserve other older adaptations/comics/books (This is personally why I think it was called M**min *Hunt*). Without these other adaptions being shared they could potentially become lost media (especially the ones that aren’t even uploaded on common video sharing platforms). Some of these adaptations are so old that I also highly doubt that the company is secretly planning on distributing them ever again (ownership may also be gray area). The only chance they had was to be shared online. So it upsets me that people defending the company think that they’re trying to protect M**min media when they’re really just letting M**min history die. I believe they’re scaring the fandom so this doesn’t happen again and this only makes the chance of saving these obscure adaptations really low (especially since most of the fandom in my experience don’t even know about how obscure and far the M**min rabbit hole goes). I’ve heard from old M**min fans that M**min lost media is lost for a reason and this whole situation further proves this. This is deeply upsetting for both the victim and for the potential future of M**min history. If you have any pieces of M**min art, music, or videos that you think are obscure and you can’t find them anywhere else, I would hold onto it.
