Prompt: Playing Volleyball With ThemĀ
Hinata: If you ask Hinata to play volleyball with you, heād be ecstatic. He would be so excited and happy at the request that heād be bouncing all over the place. He asks Daichi to let him stay late in the gym so the two of you can play together. Heās supportive of everything his partner does and he tries his best to be the best mentor that he can be. If youāre new to the sport, heāll explain the basics, but he might struggle with mentoring because a lot of what he does is instinct. Regardless of that, he manages to get the job done and you get a good grasp on the sport. He might try to involve Kageyama and would asks him for help mentoring you about the sport (though his pride would be wounded afterwards). When your mini practice together is done, he takes you to the convenience store and you walk around together with a bundle of snacks. Heād ask to practice with you more oftenĀ
Kageyama: If you ask Kageyama to play volleyball with you, he would say yes, but would be a bit hesitant. Heās worried that he might yell at you for a simple mistake or might grow agitated with you, which would result in potentially ruining the relationship you two have. However, being friends with Kageyama means being used to his behaviour and the fact that he gets irritated easily. Heās not the best mentor because he struggles to explain how to do things, but heās trying really hard to help out. It makes him really happy when you succeed in doing something he taught you (though he might not show it). He might invite Hinata, but thereās a higher chance that the practice would be between the two of you, as he tends to work well by himself. Afterwards, he would go straight home unless you asked to spend some time together, which he would agree to. He secretly hopes you ask him to play again
Kuroo: If you ask Kuroo to play volleyball with you, heād agree relatively quickly. He would be happy that you went to him for help instead of going to Kenma. Heās supportive of you, however, he does tease you sometimes when you make a simple mistake. Heās good at explaining things and is able to teach you the moves step by step. Heās patient with his explanations and explains things more than once if you need it. If youāre at the training camp, he definitely invites Bokuto and Akaashi to play with you (and Tsukishima but he said no). If Bokuto and Akaashi are involved, the mini practice session becomes a bit hectic and Kurooās patient explanations become a little less patient and a lot more action is involved. Afterwards, the two of you walk around the area and gets some food. He asks you to play with him again because he had a lot of fun
Kenma: If you ask Kenma to play volleyball with you, his first reaction would be no. He barely has enough motivation to go to his own practices, thereās a high chance he would say no because it requires more effort that he doesnāt want to put in. Eventually if you beg him enough or bribe him with something he wants, heād agree. Despite the fact that he agreed, he would still put the minimum amount of energy required in. Regardless, he does explain some stuff and is patient when explaining things. He might complain during the beginning part, but eventually he gets over it and does an adequate job in mentoring you. Afterwards, you two get some snacks from the convenience store and go to his house to play games together. He wouldnāt admit it, but he had fun.Ā
Bokuto: If you ask Bokuto to play volleyball with you, heād be extremely excited and would immediately agree. Heād be excited the entire day and would be hyped up on energy when the time comes for your mini session. Heād be supportive of everything you do and would try his best to give you good advice. If you manage to get something right on the first try, heād compliment you and would shower you in praise (Bokuto is the best hype man). Heās pretty good at explaining things, which ultimately makes him a good mentor to you (as you see in the anime with him teaching Hinata a new trick). While teaching you, heād show off himself and would look at you for approval and praise. Heād invite Akaashi to help out with sets and the two of them would do a good job explaining how to spike in different ways. Afterwards, you guys go for a walk through the park to cool down and heād ask youĀ
Akaashi: If you ask Akaashi to play volleyball with you, heād agree easily as long as it doesnāt interfere with his practice. Heād be slightly curious as to why you asked, but he wouldnāt dwell on it for too long. Akaashi is a good teacher and excels at explaining things to you in a simple manner. If you mess up on something, he explains what was done wrong and how to fix it. Heās patient because he understands that not everyone can be perfect right away, and he takes him time with you. If you want to play as a setter then it would be just the two of you, however, if you wanted to play as a spiker, heād invite Bokuto and ask him for help (Which would result in the scenario from Bokutoās section). Afterwards, heād help you cool down and would do stretches with you (while conversing about simple things). He wouldnāt take the initiative to ask again, but if you asked him, heād agree quicklyĀ
Iwaizumi: If you ask Iwaizumi to play volleyball with you, heād agree pretty easily. Despite how some of the fandom portrays him as a person easily irritated, Iwaizumi would be patient with his explanations. Similar to Akaashi, he would take his time in explaining and would watch what youāre doing to see how to fix things. He would enjoy spending simple moments like this together with you, and loves seeing how happy you get when you do something properly. Heād invite Oikawa (or more like heād invite himself), and would ask him for some help teaching you how to play as a setter. He might try to show off himself and would ask Oikawa to toss him some sets (which he claims he is just showing you how to do it, but Oikawa knows Iwaizumi is just trying to impress you). Afterwards, heād help you out with cooling down and would take you out to get some food. He wouldnāt ask you, but heād secretly be waiting for you to ask him againĀ
Oikawa: If you ask Oikawa to play volleyball with you, heād agree right away. Oikawa is a good mentor and he takes the time to explain everything properly. Heās not a genius, but rather heās someone who has worked hard to get where he has gotten, which means he understands the basics quite well and knows how to explain things properly. Heād definitely try to show off with his serves while claiming heās demonstrating how itās done. Heād be surprisingly patient about it all and would be understanding if you messed up (though he might collect some moments as blackmail). Heād invite Iwaizumi, Hanamaki, and Matsukawa to help you learn through observation. With the other three, he shows off a few plays and explains how they work to you (the other three are having a blast watching Oikawa try to impress you). Afterwards, heād take you out on a date for some food. Heād ask to play more volleyball within the weekĀ
Ushijima: If you ask Ushijima to play volleyball with you, heād agree because itās his favourite thing and heād want to share that with you. Heās not a good mentor because heās naturally gifted. Itās not that he doesnāt work hard, but rather that heās skipped over some of the basics that otherās have to go through, which makes it harder for him to explains things. Regardless, heās patient with his explanations and does a goodĀ job at fixing your form. Heād invite Tendou to help you out and give you some experience with getting through blockers (Tendou loves teasing him about the pink on his cheeks that Ushijima claims is from working out). Afterwards, he teaches you how to cool down properly and buys you drinks from the vending machine. He doesnāt ask again, but he would agree if you were to ask againĀ
Tendou: If you ask Tendou to play volleyball with you, heād agree because it means spending more time together with you. Despite the fact that he loves relaxing in his dorm reading manga, he willingly does extra practice because itās with you. Heās not the best teacher, because his volleyball playing style is based off instinct and gut feelings. As a result, heās not good at explaining how he does things. However, he does have some techniques and he takes the time to teach you how to do those. He does like to tease you when you mess up, however, he tends to be patient and understanding if you struggle. Heād invite Ushijima, Semi, and Reon to help you out with blocking (heād tell Ushijima to not hit as hard because it could hurt you). He enjoys the evening and he loved spending time together with you and his best friends. Afterwards, you guys get snacks and go rest in his dorm room. He asks for to play again soon
Atsumu: If you ask Atsumu to play volleyball with you, heād be a bit confused and taken aback. Heās used to people not wanting to play volleyball with him because of how serious he gets, and to hear someone thatās not from his team asking to play volleyball with him would be a shock. When he realizes youāre being earnest, heād agree immediately and would be excited to share his love of the sport with you. Heās not the most patient, but heās good at explaining things, which makes it easier for you to figure things out. He struggles to understand that some people arenāt able to do things naturally, but he manages to catch himself before he says something mean about your ability. He wouldnāt invite anyone because he does want it to be just you and him. Afterwards, you get some snacks together and relax. He wouldnāt ask because he doesnāt want to come off too strong, so heād silently be waiting for you to ask again
Osamu: If you ask Osamu to play volleyball with you, heād probably say no. At that point, heās tired from practice and tired from having to deal with Atsumu all day, so his motivation is pretty low. However, if you do bribe him with some food after it, heād agree. Heās patient in his explanations and he understands that it takes time to figure things out. This means that if you were to screw up, he wouldnāt be upset, but rather would explain it. He wouldnāt invite anyone, because similar to Atsumu, he does want it to be a moment shared between the two of you. If heās feeling a bit more energetic, heād try to show off in front of you at least once. Afterwards, the two of you would get the promised snacks and heād take you out to get some dinner before you return to his house to relax. He wouldnāt ask to do it again, but he wouldnāt be opposed if you were to ask
