Sometimes autistic people are upset and have problems. = AUTISM IS SUCH A TRAGEDY.
Look at this child - she’s crying. Isn’t it such a tragedy when children have bikes? She’s so upset, her entire life must be so terrible. It’s so tragic that she ended up with that bike. Clearly, this picture is representative of how she feels about bikes.
You’re not autistic. But you feel that autism speaks speaks for you. That is exactly the problem. An autism advocacy organisation shouldn’t be speaking for allistic siblings, it should be speaking for actual autistic people.
Who are you, a non autistic person, to tell autistic people that we are suffering? When we say we aren’t? How is is that your opinion, as a non autistic person, should be silencing ours? And how the fuck is the statement ” I don’t suffer from autism, I suffer from ignorant people”, ” denying another persons’ experience”? It’s a statement about someone’s experience. Which you, as a non autistic person, are saying that they shouldn’t be able to say, because it doesn’t fit your non autistic ideas about autism. Because your experience, as a non autistic person, is apparently more valid than ours.
Look at this child. He suffers from a lack of autism, and he’s upset. Isn’t allism such a tragedy? If an allistic child can be upset, it must be so terrible to be afflicted.
"Who are you, a non autistic person, to tell autistic people that we are suffering? When we say we aren’t?" This statement is the fundamental issue I see. You are saying "we" as if YOU as 1 person speak on behalf of EVERY person with autism. You don't.
