But first coffee. This day-to-day mantra kicks in as soon as I get out of bed in the morning. On a recent trip to Sydney, I made my way to the hidden coffee-goers paradise amongst the industrial buildings situated in Alexandria. There was three main reasons I was drawn to this place: First, we share the same name and I couldn't give up a chance to see a place bearing my name. Second, I have been hearing about this place for weeks and being in Sydney I thought it was a good opportunity to see what the hype was all about. Third: being from Melbourne that hosts some of the best baristas and coffee in the world, I'm a bit of a coffee snob. Well this place is beyond amazing. From the industrial style café setting to the incredibly friendly staff- The Grounds of Alexandria has it all. The entry is every bit as friendly and inviting as the staff inside and although it was (what I thought) very busy for the middle of the week, I had been seated and served my morning caffeinated fuel within minutes. The grounds have a wonderful menu catering for every style including those whom have vegan and gluten free needs. For breakfast I had the Grounds signature smashed avocado on sourdough (which is made on site - amazing) with a perfect poached egg on top. Whilst it was amazing , I am often prone to food envy and this day was no exception the burgers and other plates moving around the café made me incredibly jealous. Needless to say I'll be back there in no time. After breakfast, I took a walk around the Grounds to the nursery, beer garden and animal farm. Walking around this area seems so far removed from the industrial area sitting just beyond its gates and somehow it fits. The area seems so natural and I can't help but wonder how I haven't been here before. This place is amazing and I urge everyone to try it out- or maybe I shouldn't invade I can't get a table ? Either way, the coffee snob in me is 100% satisfied and I wish it was in Melbourne.

Some say absences makes the heart grow fonder and in some circumstances that’s true - chocolate yes, sale time yes, seasonal fruit yes, boys no but travel to me is a definite yes! Travel engages the mind, body and spirit and exposes it to a new reality that was otherwise just a vivid dream or photos found on other peoples Instagram. Since I have been away for such a long time I am recommitting myself to this blog to show and tell all my experiences concerning clothes, cafes and continents! Stay tuned guys!
