The idea for this AU is that instead of running away with Crowfeather, Leafpool decides to stay with Thunderclan… and when the badger attacks, Firestar is permanently killed when he lures the badgers away from camp. Cinderpelt is also gravely injured, but able to live for another 4-5 minutes. In this AU, herbalists are seen as secondary leaders… with the idea that if both the Leader+Deputy die, they can take over. If you remember the second half of TNP, a deputy isn’t accepted till after Sunset… thus thrusting the role of leadership onto Leafpool.
So! Leafpool is thoroughly traumatized TM, and now has to deal with a grieving, unstable, angry clan. Something that Brambleclaw resents her for.
I mean, after all, it would be the best thing for her to step down! She’s an inexperienced Herbalist. He would obviously be a better candidate- he’s a mature warrior, and he went on the sundrown trip! Or, at least, that’s what he thinks.
And whoopsie! Leafpool is still pregnant… but no one but her knows if it was before or after she became leader. So. There is that.
