Repentance is the path, it’s the GPS. It’s the road to His grace, His love, and His power because your sin has fallen on Christ. When we confess our sins, Christ takes it away and we are restored to the throne of grace. Confessing is the most positive thing that you can do because then you can be in the presence of the father who comforts you. Why is it important? Because there’s a process. Just like there’s a train of thoughts that leads to sin, there’s a train of thoughts that leads to grace. On the track of the cross and heaven, the throne of the love of our God the father, there’s a path. There’s the stop of seeing your old self, and the stop of confessing your sins which leads to the track of forgiveness and restoration.

Recent reminders of community! We had a Post-Undergrad Retreat at church the first weekend of spring break, and honestly- my heart was just SO hardened, that I actually didn’t want to go. I was looking forward to it, but I was doubtful if God would be able to do anything within me. But it was so. freaking. good for my heart.

I think I’ve actually been suppressing so much of how discouraged I’ve been recently - how much I was struggling to find my place in community, how lost I felt, how purposeless I felt, and how I felt like God had forgotten about me.

Here are just some of my takeaways~

The deeper the Gospel goes in, the wider it will spread out.

We often “high think” of ourselves by comparing and building our own establishment through other people’s opinions- this is unsustainable! The way we sober think shows the standard of what we believe God sees us as - confidently humble and humbly confident.

There is a difference between the fruits of the Spirit and gifts of the Spirit.

Gospel character > Gospel gifts.

It’s easier to work FOR Jesus than to simply WALK besides Him.

Grace based freedom shows itself in love.

Freedom is not just the absence of restriction, but the presence of the right restrictions that fits its own nature.

The Gospel empowers us to free ourselves from the desire of other desires.

Other than the fire messages, PUR was also just a good time for me to pray and worship on my knees. Literally.. I’m starting to truly believe that prayer is a game changer in every way possible!! And that’s something I’m so thankful CFC has been showing me. I realized that there are actually SO many people fighting for me in prayer.. cries.

So don’t lose heart, Susie! Keep abiding in the One that promised you the greatest treasure when you chose to follow Him in this hard, hard season. Keep choosing to see the work He’s doing in you right now rather than the circumstantial things you keep focusing on because He is slowly, but surely forming you.

i think that it is God’s sovereignty that..

I have two friends here at my church (CFC) in Champaign that will be going to Hong Kong and Singapore for a study abroad program this summer, and they have open & willing hearts to check out the HMCC church sites in both countries!! Praying that they would be able to find God’s provision and love through these communities and unfamiliar places that are both so culturally differently from CFC and Champaign.

It’s only Jesus.

When it comes to my faith, may I let go of everything that is not You.

2: Grad school is getting real stressful - but here are just random snippets that have made me happy and reminded me of His grace and love over me.

i was too shy to ask my pastor for a selfie on our first meetup, so here is a picture of where we sat during a very encouraging and intuitive 3 hour meetup. EL OH EL

A kind member in my small group offered to print something I needed for class because he had a printer at his apartment. (U of I does not give printing money to students aka another reason to say go blue)

I didn’t check how long the document was until later that day, and realized IT WAS 166 PAGES!!! And this member didn’t even say anything and told me he was “kinda shook but didn’t want to be rude” 😭😭

This reminded me of God’s grace and love PAHA.

And now I need to go buy some paper and ink for dis poor soul... and maybe even Kung Fu Tea for life.

All of us want a perfect growing environment for ourselves. We strive to avoid the times of tension when life’s daily challenges push against us. We blame these temporary trials for the decline or fixed state of our spiritual growth.

Trees sway gracefully when wind blows against it. It doesn’t push back- rather, it accepts the strong wind as a blessing that helps them to grow.

These events develop our character and deepens our spiritual roots. When we grow deep, we too stand tall.

When we struggle with the mundaneness of life, apathy, lack of motivation, God is using this season to make us grow stronger!!

Remember this, Susie, during the strong winds to come this year - God is for you. God will use you.

The Lord is truly in this place.

Feed our hearts with grace. Wash it with gratitude.

(problem for later..) - Reunion with Jiyeon, one of my favorite unni’s in the world!
