THIS IS LITERALLY SHOWCASED MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SAGA

IT STARTS WITH TRUNKS AND BUILDS FROM THERE

GOHAN LITERALLY LETS CELL LIVE BECAUSE OF HIS ARROGANCE

THE ONLY REASON CELL IS DEFEATED IS BECAUSE GOKU, GOHAN, AND VEGETA ALL LET GO OF THEIR ARROGANCE AND PRIDE AND FIGHT TOGETHER

GOKU STEPS IN TO HELP GOHAN, WHICH HE DIDNT DO BEFORE BECAUSE HE THOUGHT GOHAN COULD DO IT HIMSELF

VEGETA HELPS GOHAN AND LANDS THE PENULTIMATE BLOW ON CELL, DESPITE WANTING TO BE THE ONE TO END CELL HIMSELF

GOHAN FINALLY FINISHES HIM LIKE HE REFUSED TO DO BEFORE

THEY ALL LET GO OF THEIR ARROGANCE AND FINISH THE JOB

THATS THE THEMATIC POINT OF THE SAGA

I haven’t read the manga yet, so maybe they’re portrayed differently and not as annoying.

Here are my reasonings behind this and ya’ll can let me know if they’re like this in the manga, please.

Caulifla is too… how do I say it… demanding and pushy.

It makes me feel as if this is just a bad portrayal of a strong Saiyan woman (to be fair I don’t know much about female Saiyan characterization, but if I remember correctly there isn’t much), but then again, they are from Universe Six, so it might be different there but I don’t and to use that as reasoning too much.

Also, it just makes me seem that they didn’t try too hard to stray away from the female stereotypes that “they’re pushy and demanding and loud and obnoxious.”

It’s one thing to portray a female strong but it’s another to make them overbearing

Kale’s shyness and insecurities.

I don’t know man, this just seemed to be a major anti-Saiyan personality. As I said before, maybe it’s just how they are in U6, so maybe I shouldn’t complain too much..

Also, it just seems to fall into another stereotype (the other half) of women “are too shy and needy and whiny and insecure.”

So I feel like both characters were just strung along for crappy female development, again, they’re Saiyans so it’s kinda cool, but even then.. their portrayals aren’t.

Their unhealthy co-dependency

Again, maybe at this point, I don’t like their characterization so anything they do bothers the hell out of me, but their relationship didn’t seem the healthiest. I get it that there were supposed to be mirrors of Goku and Vegeta but my guys aren’t co-dependent, unless they are.. but not too blatant?

Hmm, now, i gotta hear someone support this argument, I’d love to see what they gotta say.

I get that they see each other as sisters and whatnot, but it seems a bit too co-defendant for my taste.

Then again, like I said in the poll, I’m probably just hating.
