posting about this too actually i need to remind everyone that khulan canonically took over marcassin's magic training after his father died. first of all really good i love their hypothetical relationship. second of all five years prior to wotww xanadu was DESTROYED and khulan was PRESUMED DEAD. marcassin even says he tried to get hamelin's forces out to help but they were too late. which means that when marcassin was five his father died and his brother left and then ten years later when he was fifteen he failed to save the woman who took over his magic training. when he was FIFTEEN. like ok. can we give this kid a break, please. no wonder he lost his fucking belief
consider: As an adult falling in love with Cassiopeia (and potentially getting far enough as to get married or even have children) and then he learns that she was the one who kinda caused all of that to happen in his childhood
