Edit: After something like 2 years of being gone, I might be coming back :D
If/when I do, expect a bit of a change in content. Less informative, more âI did a witchcraft, hereâs what it was.â A journal of sorts, or an archive of my personal progress, instead of an outright source, and a lot more casual
(original pinned starts below this point)
Iâve noticed a lot of baby witch safe spells (spell jars specifically) using things that I donât have easy access to, even as someone with other witchy family members, so I canât imagine how hard it is for more broom closeted baby witches.
So my goal with this blog is to share my recipes for broom closeted baby witches!
I use almost exclusively things I have found around my house, with the occasional thing bought from my local âwitchyâ store or found for free near my house.
If you are interested in some broom-closet-friendly spells, I invite you to join me on this journey!

my family and I went to a rock and mineral show yesterday and there were so many crystals
naturally I had to buy some, so here's what I got and some associations I found for them/associations I already had
my phone camera's awful, so I had to play around with the pictures to make them look like they actually do, and even that didn't save some of them, so I'll put a better picture of each as well
Honey Calcite- emotional stabilizer, motivation, energy amplification
literally gorgeous. if I could safely put this in my mouth, I would
Mangano Calcite- self comfort, aids in healing from trauma
so sad the picture didn't turn out, because she is so gorgeous. mine's mostly pale pink with some white and grey swirls and I adore her
I always said moonstone was my favourite just because. moon. so I had to actually get some. Looking up pictures, the most accurate one said it was rainbow moonstone, which would explain the black bits in it, but the shop just labeled it as moonstone?? idk
Citrine- the sun, creativity, beginnings
I'm an Apollo devotee, I needed to get some citrine somewhere
Angelite- calming, lucid dreams, communication
the picture I took of this one didn't turn out either :(( but the picture I found is pretty accurate. the stone I picked was the palest blue out of the tumbles they had
Angel Aura Quartz- happiness, mental clarity, very intense energy
I got two pieces bc they were really cheap and I couldn't decide between all the colours. big fan of the light pink one, these guys are edible looking too
Lapis Lazuli- communication, learning, good to bring to auditions
I did try to check if this was actually Sodalite, but it seems not to be. also the site I was looking at said it brings 'calm loving communication to a home with autistic children' so I am hitting all the marks
Tiger's Eye- grief, confidence
I've got some gorgeous tiger's eye pieces already (some yellow stuff like this but also a red one !!) but I am not immune to little stars
I've got a special personal connection to strawberries so obviously I had to get some strawberry quartz. I don't wear bracelets all too often, but maybe this will change that
tl;dr: in the ~2 years I've been gone I've done a lot of different types of growing and I've been thinking about practicing witchcraft regularly again. may or may not revive this blog to track it, no promises
long version under the cut I suppose
My last proper post was that ask I answered December 24, 2021. I know I edited my pinned post, but I don't remember when. The post on Litha was scheduled bc I missed it originally lol
there's a post a bit farther down about focusing on my practice before I help others with theirs, and that's basically what the absence boils down to. I'd been in a bit of a groove, and I never really stopped practicing, but my frequency and dedication definitely took a dip
here's where I maybe get unnecessarily personal, but I think a lot of it might have to do with my autism. masking is exhausting, and during my break I was having an extra rough time mentally, so I just didn't have the energy to even try
recently I've been feeling a bit more motivation, though. I was happy when I was doing this stuff regularly, and maybe it's just hindsight, but I want to try again.
Despite that, I really have no promises of starting this blog back up again. I might, I might not. If I do, it'll probably be a lot more like a journal than a guide.
whatever happens, I do really want to thank you all. Every now and then I'll come on here to check something and see all the new notes and know that I'm still helping people. Even if I'm not making anything new, people are still finding my stuff and using it to learn, and that's really,, heartwarming, I guess.

Litha is the Summer Solstice, and is also called Midsummer(âs Day)
Litha is, of course, a celebration of Summer.
A really easy, subtle way to celebrate is by lying in the sunshine.
My favourite way to celebrate is wearing the associated colours. Great for broom closeted witches!
Lithaâs colours are
yellow
gold
green
orange
red
Basically just Summer-y, warm colours!
If you wanted to try reaching out to a sun deity, now could be a perfect time, since Litha is so closely associated with the sun. Do your research before working with deities
Litha is the longest day of the year, so itâs perfect for making sun water
For making moon water for yule, would you make it on Christmas eve or Christmas night?
So sorry for getting to this late!
Since the winter solstice (Yule) is the shortest day and longest night of the year, I just meant that you'd have plenty of time for making moon water and not have it touch sunlight.
The solstice has already happened now (sorry), but you can make moon water any night you'd like!
Yule is the first sabbat on the wheel of the year, and starts on the Winter Solstice. Itâs the shortest day of the year, meaning the days will only get longer from here!
An easy, subtle way to celebrate any of the sabbats is to the wear the associated colours.
Some of Yuleâs colours are red, green, gold, and white.
The tradition of Xmas trees came from Yule trees, so if you celebrate Xmas at all, this is an easy one.
Some of the herbs and foods associated with Yule include mistletoe, pine, mint, and oranges.
Donât eat mistletoe, itâs poisonous (also maybe donât go around eating pine)
Some other ways to celebrate could be:
Eating food- this goes for all the sabbats
Making hot chocolate with intention (I like using cinnamon for abundance)
Making moon water- this is the longest night of the year, so thereâs plenty of time!
Baking a Yule log cake (or baking in general)
Burning a Yule log- candles, bonfires, and fireplaces work just as well!
please donât mix up your Yule logs
And, of course, you donât have to celebrate Yule, or any other sabbat, if you donât want to :)
Itâs been a while, I hope youâre all doing well :)
If an ingredient is in bold it is highly recommended you use it, all the others are optional.
Salt- protection (eggshells will serve the same purpose)
Nutmeg- luck (rosemary can replace any herb you donât have)
Cinnamon- strengthens spell, luck
Orange peel- positive change
Luck sigil- this will make your intention very clear (my post on sigils)
Aventurine- luck (clear quartz can replace any crystal you donât have)
Amazonite- luck
Yellow turquoise- luck
Something to seal- candle wax, crayon, glue, tape, etc. (I used green candle wax)
these arenât all the correspondences of these ingredients, just the ones relevant to the spell :)
My specific intention with this spell was âluck against the oddsâ
This could apply to any number of things, but I feel itâs still more specific than just luck. Your intention for this spell does not have to be the same as mine.
There are many kinds of luck out there, which means youâll want to be a little specific with this spell. You want to be specific, but not so specific it becomes improbable.
If you just ask for luck, you might not even notice it. It could be the bus being late the day youâre running behind. It could be that it was supposed to rain while you were outside, but it didnât.
Itâs also good to remember that good luck doesnât guarantee anything. Luck may increase your chances, but it doesnât mean everything will go exactly as you wanted it to.

Mabon happens on September 20-23 (depending on the year) in the Northern Hemisphere, which is the Autumn Equinox.
Mabon is another sabbat celebrating the harvest. While Lammas is more about celebrating the beginning of the harvest, Mabon is more linked with the end of the harvest, and crops that get harvested later (think apples, pumpkins, etc)
A very easy, broom-closet-friendly way to celebrate is to wear the colours of the holiday
Mabonâs colours are
orange
brown
copper
yellow
red
just think Autumn colours
Pretty much every sabbat can be celebrated by having some sort of âfeast.â Since apples are being harvested around this time, you could have one of those. Cinnamon is also something tied to this holiday, so if youâre into apple-cinnamon things, thatâs a good option.
This holiday could be compared to Thanksgiving, but I wouldnât like to, if Iâm being honest.
Some other ways to celebrate could be to:
Bake
Decorate your altar/room/house)
Look for acorns
Go for a walk and look at the pretty leaves (as Iâm writing this I have about 1 orange tree ;-;)
Go apple or pumpkin picking
The sabbat after this is Samhain (the witchâs new year), which you may want to keep in mind
Also, you donât have to celebrate Mabon, or any other sabbat really, if you donât want to!
A pendulum can be any weighted object on a string or chain. Usually, theyâre used to ask simple, âyesâ or ânoâ questions, but can also be used to select specific objects or be used with other tools to spell out words. Pendulums can be used as a form of divination.
There are a few different ways to figure out what a pendulum is telling you. Personally, I prefer to ask my pendulums to show me how it will move if the answer is yes, then repeat for no.
You could also show your pendulum how you want it to move when the answer is yes or no.
Regardless, youâll want to ask some questions you already know the answer to, to make sure everything is working properly.Â
This could be things like, âAm I _ years old?â âIs today Monday?â âIs it sunny outside today?â Youâll want the answers to be mixed up; donât just ask questions where the answer is âyes,â but donât ask only questions where the answer is âno,â either.
In order to spell out words with your pendulum, youâll want some sort of chart, listing out the letters of the alphabet. Something like this:
You put your pendulum in the center, and ask for the first letter (it could be useful to also have numbers, so you can ask how many letters the word has). As you go, you could confirm the words to make sure you arenât misinterpreting anything, but itâs up to you!
Of course, it doesnât have to look exactly like the above image, thatâs just an example :)
Donât let people tell you your pendulums have to look like this:
they could just look like this:
Because both options are totally fine!
As long as itâs weighted and can swing freely, it can be your pendulum :)
Iâm sure we all know that not everything is a sign, but it can be difficult to tell the difference between a magickal sign, and a mundane occurrence.
Personally, the way I usually tell the difference is by seeing if I can come up with literally any other explanation in the next breath.
For example, today I was thinking to myself, âWow, there were a lot of crows at my elementary school, I wonder if Lord Apollo had anything to do with that,â but then my next thought was, âThey always came after our breaks, because there was food on the ground. We were messy little kids, and they were hungry crows.â
That tells me that they were probably just crows being crows.
When Iâm asking for signs on the other hand, I like to make them specific, but possible. Iâm not going to ask to see exactly 17 crows in the next 24 hours. But when I still wasnât sure if I should pursue witchcraft, I asked a tree to make a specific leaf change colour if I should. In the morning one day, nothing struck me as out of the ordinary with the tree. But when I was coming home from school, the entire tree had changed colour (including the one leaf I had originally asked for).
âIf [signâs purpose] then [sign] by [time].â
âIf [you want to work with me] then [show me at least one sunflower] by [the end of the month]â is what I used when I reached out to Lord Apollo
There was a day when I had a spider crawl up my leg, my friend found a spider on their desk, then a different friend found one crawling on them, then I found a small, green one in my bathtub, then I had one drop down when I was trying to get a snack, then I remembered that Loki likes to send spiders. (This was in Summer, those spiders had no reason to be inside)
I see spiders daily, but I had never seen 5 different ones in one day, or had one crawl on my leg before.
Also, ask your pendulum if you have one! Or your tarot deck!

Just because a crystal didnât come from the ground, that doesnât mean itâs not a real crystal. Just because a crystal has been dyed, that doesnât mean itâs not a real crystal.
Angel aura quartz, in a way, doesnât actually exist. But thatâs because itâs made by bonding different metals to the surface of a clear quartz. If you get told your angel aura quartz is fake, it could be because it isnât actually a crystal at all (as in itâs glass, plastic, etc), but it could also be because angel aura quartz is all fake. (Which is a good thing to keep in mind to be totally honest)
I also have a slight issue with people who say that dyed crystals arenât real. Sure, they might be dyed glass or plastic, in which case, yes, theyâre fake (I think most of us can agree on that).
But if itâs a real crystal, that just so happens to be dyed, is it fake then? I say no.
The majority of my crystals have been dyed, but the place I got them from was very explicit about that. They had multiple signs saying âThese crystals are real, but we dyed them to bring out their colours.â
Basically, what Iâm saying is..
You have to decide for yourself what makes a crystal âfakeâ
Nobody can really do that for you. I might not think that dying a crystal makes it fake, but if thatâs a deal-breaker for you, thatâs your opinion, and youâre allowed to have it.
Since this blog is meant to help out baby witches in the broom closet (or just with limited resources), I thought Iâd share this app I found a while ago.
Itâs called (donât laugh) #Selfcare.
Itâs actually pretty nice for that, but you unlock more and more options as you keep going to the app (I think it unlocks a new option every 24 hrs, but I could be totally wrong).
At first itâs just some little games, breathing exercises, that kind of thing. But as you unlock more options, more witchy things become available.Â
Eventually, youâre able to do things like pull a tarot card every day, check the moon phase, or âlightâ a candle with a specific intention*. Which is great for if youâre interested in learning about those things, but donât/canât have the resources to do so.
*these things donât have to be witchy, of course, but many witches do these kinds of things as part of their practice
When you open the app, the âsunâ is down. As you do the activities, it rises, Once itâs all the way up, you get a random item.Â
You can then take this item, and put it on your altar. Some of the items are herbs and crystals, like rosemary, amethyst, carnelian, etc.
If you do end up going looking for it, the icon looks like this:
From the outside, nothing about it says it could have elements of witchcraft, which is what makes it such a good broom closet tool.
Of course, I donât know all of your individual situations, and if getting this seems too risky still, then donât. Your safety and comfort come first.
