Lock in. The home of the angels doesn’t/shouldn’t concern you as much as the well being of earth.
If you believe in Christ you should follow him even with no promise of the afterlife, why? Because you should believe that his teaching put more good in the world! And if you are basing your Christian faith on whether or not you think you will get to heaven and NOT using your money to feed the poor, sick, and widowed. Then I will state that you were never a strong believer in the first place.
It’s St Kateri’s feast day, let’s also recognize the billions of indigenous martyrs lost to colonialism and its violence throughout the Americas and the rest of the world, and the countless indigenous communities who are still alive and fighting for their rights and suffering untold levels of violence and discrimination.
Especially since you can’t separate St Kateri Tekakwitha’s life and conversion from colonial violence, theft and genocide, and her story has been used for those aims ever since she was alive.
If nothing else, if you’re not indigenous to the land you’re on, learn whose land it historically is. Learn about the Native communities around you and what they need. Do what you can.
i do truly believe in god because i am trans. not despite it, because of it. experiences among my fellow trans people have made me feel closer to the holy spirit than anything else. we feed each other, we share what we have, we dance and love together then we walk each other home. we cry and mourn, recover and celebrate and hope together. i have seen the face of Christ in people the USamerican church as a whole would discount immediately just because they turned grapes to wine and wheat to bread. i have never seen the idea of being the hands and feet of god on earth better exemplified than through my trans family. god bless us all and keep us, we deserve safety and to be so loved.
