Early Dreamtale

Celeste takes the role of Crescent’s younger sister in Dreamtale. She had always been rather social, and when the villagers moved in, she was eager to get to know them and help out when she could. At first, she made sure to balance out the time she spent at the tree with her brother and the time she spent in the village. As the years went on, however, Celeste was easily swayed into obeying what the villagers requested of her, even if it meant moving away from her brother until the end of the day.

The village treated her like the royalty she is. She would frequently receive presents and gifts for her contributions to the chores of the townsfolk, of which she sometimes gave to her brother, noting his lack of communication with the villagers and the lack of care the villagers felt towards him. She would always try her best to spend time with him when the villagers weren’t demanding of her because in her eyes, Crescent was her entire world. She cared about nobody more than him, yet the village had threatened her with violence should she not succumb to their wishes. Afraid for her safety, she’d follow the townspeople in the morning after the age of five and return at night, sometimes to Crescent sustaining injuries he refused to fully explain. She was usually the one to help him patch them up due to the fact that she lacked healing magic at her young age.

Celeste felt guilty for leaving her brother behind, and she did invite him into town sometimes. However, Crescent almost always refused. She would frequently bring him food from the village and trinkets she thought he would enjoy. This did help him feel loved in the first five years of their lives, but ultimately didn’t do much for Crescent’s worsening mental health afterwards. It pained Celeste to constantly see her brother in distress so often, yet she felt powerless in being able to stop it mostly because of his refusal to speak about why.

When the Apple Incident occurred, Celeste was with a friend of her’s in the village. Upon feeling a stabbing pain within her chest, she looked up at the darkening skies and the Tree she was supposed to protect, which was wilting before her very eyes. Shocked, stunned, and confused, she quickly ran towards the Tree to find out if her brother was okay. Confusion turned into fear as she heard the townsfolk demand Crescent die for being the ‘Devil’s spawn’. Desperately, she went to plead with the villagers to put down their knives and pitchforks, who either flat out ignored her or reprimanded her for trying to defend her brother.

Celeste was helpless as she saw her entire world crumble before her. Crescent was on the ground, sobbing, with tentacles that spawned from his back that gave the villagers no mercy. The townspeople were dying and violence was mass spread. Amidst the chaos, Celeste felt a remnant of the Tree’s positive magic within its darkened leaves call out to her. No words were exchanged, but the magic certainly was, and it was enough for Celeste to climb the tree and reach for the remaining apple of positivity. Upon grabbing it, Celeste fell down with the Tree’s bark, the tendrils having cut the Tree down and leaving only the stump. Celeste rapidly consumed the apple’s power, feeling a rush of magic through her bones. She subconsciously managed to summon a staff and attacked the tendrils with it. Crescent, however, stood up and stared at her with an eye full of fear. Looking at the mayhem he had just induced, Crescent whispered one final message.

“…No more… I-I’m sorry, I… don’t know what I’m… doing… and she cannot…”

It was then where Crescent extended a hand out, and Celeste drops her staff in desperation. She calls out to her brother once more, crying, before feeling her bones freeze. Stone covered her legs, then her arms, and soon coated her entire body, leaving her indefinitely immobile and unresponsive.

Crescent fled the universe, and Celeste, silenced, unmoving, and alone, was left in the shambles of the world she once called home.

Post-Apple Incident / Wartime

Celeste was broken out of stone by an artist named Ink, who had discovered the universe by chance while exploring the Multiverse. She woke up to find her entire world shattered, left only as a husk of its former self. She recalled what had occurred and begged Ink to help her find her brother, of which she is informed that her brother had turned into an individual known for harming universes and their inhabitants. Astounded, Celeste requests proof. Ink takes her to a neutral surface world to talk to some of its inhabitants about Crescent. The majority of them think negatively of him, and tell her stories of the people he had harmed there just days prior. Celeste believed it, feeling as if she had failed her brother for allowing him to be overcome by such evil magic.

That same day, Crescent visits Celeste. He tells her that he was deeply sorry for everything that had occurred at home. Celeste, convinced that whoever was speaking to her wasn’t her brother, argues with him, stating that her brother would not have harmed innocent people and killed the villagers. It is then when Celeste tells Crescent that he was not her brother, because her brother was innocent, and what Crescent had become was not. Celeste initiates a fight, of which Crescent refuses to partake in and flees. Celeste returns to Ink, telling him that she will do whatever it takes to help the multiverse return to emotional stability. The two then form an alliance and agree to help each other as needed.

Ink became the individual that taught Celeste how to use her powers. The two discovered her magical abilities as time went on, and also uncovered her ability to use spell magic. Celeste practiced and learned rather quickly how to use her bow and arrows, dual blades and staff, some of her rapid learning skills inherited by the apple of positivity she had consumed before turning into stone. Ink had also introduced Celeste to CORE!Frisk, who offered Celeste a place to stay in the Omega Timeline should she ever need it. Celeste and Frisk wound up becoming good friends and remained as such for however long Celeste lives or until she corrupted.

From there, the duo met Swap, who they had found when walking through a neutral route Underswap variant. Upon learning about the Multiverse, Swap wanted to come with them to explore and share his experiences with the outside world. Celeste promises Swap he could return to Underswap when he wished to, and it was then when Swap decided to join their group. The three fought together against Crescent, of whom had formed his own group in retaliation to their own. When Cross joined Crescent’s gang, Celeste began to feel guilty under the belief that he was recruiting more individuals to use them for their negativity.

As Ink told her what had happened between he and Cross, this guilt deepened. She felt that Crescent had been taking advantage of those that were against her friends, and that she wasn’t doing enough to help stop him from continuing to spread hatred and negativity. She was quick to become desperate in trying to find ways to ‘cure’ Crescent of his corruption, but all of the methods she came up with ended in failure and defeat nearly every time. She grew to loathe herself for not being able to save her brother, and while she received support from her two good friends, she couldn’t seem to love herself the way she had before.

One fateful night, Celeste left the two in the universe they resided in, fleeing to Dreamtale. She went to plead to her Mother for assistance in killing the beast that overcame her brother, and when seemingly nothing happened, she cried. Hopelessness wracked her SOUL, and it was then when she saw a gathering of the abandoned apples that Crescent had left behind during the Apple Incident. Drawn in by their magic which took advantage of her despair, she stared at one, and it spoke to her;

“Feast, for you have nothing left to lose. Feast, for the time to relieve the burdens from your SOUL have come. Feast, for your brother awaits for your salvation. To win the war, you must understand the power your enemy holds, and to understand it is to wield it and use it as if it is your own.”

Willing to do whatever it took to see her brother again, Celeste grabbed the apple. She was barely phased that it hadn’t changed with her touch, more focused on the task at hand. She took a bite of the apple, immediately feeling its effects.

Celeste felt another soul enter the universe. She was quick to recognize it, but even with Crescent’s entrance, she continued to consume the apple, crying in agony as the negativity broke her bones. Crescent hugged her, and while Celeste tried to ask him what he was doing, Crescent simply told her to save her breath and fight the corruption. Celeste looked at Crescent, where she noticed his desperation and violet eye. Remembering her brother’s original purple eyelights, she realized that this had been her brother all along, radiating a new sense of guilt inside of her.

This is the point where the timelines shift. Given this post is about uncorrupted Celeste, this will discuss the events of the good ending.

Crescent had managed to absorb the negativity his sister had consumed, allocating another apple’s power to his SOUL. He felt weakened as he usually had when he consumed apples, however was far more concerned about his sister, who had fainted and sustained serious injuries in response to the negativity that was in the process of shattering her bones. He took her to his castle and demanded his subordinates assist her while he regained strength from the negative magic he had absorbed.

When Celeste awoke, she was weakened and bandaged, but more so confused on why she was sitting in her brother’s castle. Crescent explained what happened, given Celeste recalled very little of it, and she thanked Crescent for saving her life. Crescent then took their meeting as an opportunity to explain his actions for the past few centuries. He told her of the reasons why he harmed countless individuals and of the abuse he sustained in the village and of the Apple Incident’s causes. It took Celeste a few minutes to take it all in, but eventually she told him of her motives to consume the apple of negativity. Crescent hugs her, telling her that all he wanted was to be accepted by her once again, and Celeste returned the embrace, feeling intensely guilty for all of the pain she must have inflicted on her brother. The two forgive each other and call a truce, promising one another to never fight again.

This leads to Celeste recovering with notable scarring, but ultimately winding up well. She leaves her brother’s universe to her own, telling a very worried Ink and Swap that they had to fight no longer.

Celeste and Crescent then decide to live their lives peacefully, each taking a more domestic approach to life. Celeste continued with her guardian duties, leaving home to help universes overcome by negativity. Swap eventually told Celeste some three months after the corruption incident that he held feelings for her, and the two fell in love. The couple became inseparable, following each other wherever the other went.

Once again, this is a result of the good ending. Uncorrupt!Celeste’s story stops in other endings at her corruption event when Crescent fails to save her.

Additional Info / Trivia

Celeste is 4’8”.

Celeste primarily uses she/her pronouns, but is relatively indifferent to being referred to with other pronouns.

Celeste is extremely outgoing and social, although this is a trauma response from being forced to socialize so frequently in her youth.

Celeste is also exceedingly self-conscious about how other people think of her.

Celeste’s biggest fear is of rejection and losing those closest to her.

Celeste only wears dresses and skirts, feeling pants don’t suit her well. She is very comfortable in her femininity.

While having the ability to cast spells, she doesn’t frequently use this skill and is actually rather inexperienced with it.

Celeste is illiterate due to the villagers not believing in women requiring the ability to read and write. Swap and Crescent both teach her what she wants to learn.

Like Crescent, she is Spanish and speaks Spanish as her primary language. Her accent is thicker than Crescent’s is.

Celeste has AuDHD.

Celeste wears a golden necklace with a sun pendant that she never takes off. It is a part of a set of two she shared with Crescent [who had a silver necklace with a moon pendant] in their childhood. [Crescent no longer has his necklace because he had used it to tie a flower bouquet he left at Asher’s gravestone when he passed.]

Celeste typically doesn’t heavily layer her clothing due to her positive magic producing warmth that can cause her to overheat.

Celeste is pansexual and demisexual.

Celeste, like Dream, is incapable of feeling hatred.

Celeste’s body is far more fragile after the corruption incident. She cannot withstand strong fights due to her bones being easily broken.

In a non-canon timeline, Celeste bears twins with Swap, called Sirius and Stella. These two are essentially demigods.

Celeste is not fond of large birds like eagles, falcons, and owls. She finds them scary.

Early Dreamtale

Crescent, in early Dreamtale, took the role of Celeste’s older brother. He was often the one who carried the duties of protecting the tree because Celeste was frequently far away, having been pulled by the villagers to play and do chores in the village that had established itself near the Tree of Feelings shortly after the birth of the guardians. While Celeste was away, the villagers took advantage of Crescent’s isolation, often stealing the apples of positivity from the tree. Having been young, Crescent could do little to stop them. He often stayed away from the village, never having grown to trusting its inhabitants. This led to the younger villagers harassing and bullying him, sometimes even with violence. As the years progressed, Crescent grew increasingly more scared of the villagers and slowly believed the rumors they spread about him. After withstanding punches, some broken bones and even stabbings, Crescent, at the age of 6, decided to try and convince the townspeople that he wasn’t what so many of them believed he was: evil. He picked a positive apple himself, and he held the fruit in his hands for a few seconds before it corrupted. The negative magic had spread to the branches of the positive side of the tree, and it had corrupted the majority of the tree’s apples in under a minute. The townsfolk were quick to notice, and immediately called for Crescent’s execution. Alone, scared, and with Celeste nowhere in sight, Crescent ate the corrupted apple in his hands after it had spoken to him;

“If it is relief you seek, consume. If it is assistance you seek, consume. If it is not death you are willing to succumb to, consume. Allow your power to be greater than that of your perpetrators, and see how long it will take for them to writhe and plead for mercy.”

Crescent became unstable with the magic he had absorbed, his bones shattering under the pressure of the excessive negativity that crushed and melted them. As apples fell from the Tree, he consumed them blindly, controlled by the negativity that was slowly taking over his body. Crescent only managed to eat around 500 apples when the villagers approached and started attacking him. By then, the negativity had focused on killing the villagers with its tendrils that spawned from Crescent’s back, and Crescent was powerless in controlling it. After the massacre, the negativity stopped upon seeing Celeste standing behind the Tree, climbing it to reach for one final apple. The tendrils slashed through the Tree’s bark in an attempt to stop her, making it fall and dealing the final blow to kill the Tree. Celeste, however, managed to grab the apple and eat it before the negativity could do anything to make her stop. Celeste quickly tried to attack Crescent having inherited the positive apple’s power. Fearful of himself and harming the only person who ever cared for him, Crescent accidentally put a spell on Celeste that froze her in stone for what he later found out to be 500 years.

After the apple incident, Crescent couldn’t bear to stand in the bloodshed of his mistakes. The negativity that now inhabited him created a portal to a nearby universe, where Crescent spent a year recovering from a terrible sickness that came with consuming all the apples he had. Crescent had also found out that his corruption required the negativity of other individuals to survive, favoring suffering. He had to adjust to harming and sometimes even torturing individuals discreetly in order to feed it and for his survival.

Hoping his sister would eventually break free of the spell that he placed on her, Crescent decided to carry on with his life in her absence.

Life After the Apple Incident

When Crescent was 8, he visited another universe. He had been found sleeping nearby some farmland, and a woman took him into a nearby orphanage.

At the orphanage, he strayed far from friendship and socialization. He focused on studies that the establishment had enrolled him in and spent his free time writing in journals and reading whatever books and articles he could get his hands on. Like the villagers, some of the other boys he lived with would pick on him, and, instead of resolving things peacefully, he often fought back in retaliation, which left his bullies often times scarred and seriously injured. Crescent was reprimanded for this every time it had occurred, although the bullying stopped as Crescent got older. He had also found a passion for collecting in this time period, and would frequently save things he thought were intriguing to look at or study.

Crescent was often told various things along the lines of integrating into society as a civilized monster. Yet, Crescent found these statements difficult to even think about, given he wasn’t an ordinary monster in the slightest. He felt peculiar and, upon figuring out he fancied some of the boys he was schooled with, like an anomaly. Having this been the 16th century, Crescent couldn’t find himself thinking about living his life with a man, given many of those around him said that what he felt was something of the Devil. He decided to try to forget about his feelings on the matter as best he could when he left the universe shortly after his 19th birthday.

This backfired horribly, however, as Crescent met a human named Asher Hammond in 1593. He played his original songs at a pub Crescent often visited, and Crescent was quick to attend all the showings he had when he could, having fallen in love with him.

Eventually, the two began to converse as Asher took note of the skeleton at nearly every show. After two months, Asher had given him a rose and a letter, requesting he meet him at a nearby hill out of town that evening. Crescent was mildly hesitant, but eventually decided to follow the letter’s message. He met with Asher, where the human had confessed he felt fondness and love for Crescent. The two interchange some words, and an hour later, they established themselves as an official pairing.

Crescent moved into Asher’s cottage per the latter’s request, and the two were inseparable. It was then when Crescent took up drawing, primarily to make portraits of his lover at his showings but also to make sketches of the environment around him and to better his journaling, which he had decided to archive in an abandoned universe.

Asher wrote a series of songs about Crescent that he sometimes performed, but majorly kept them quiet and reserved, only for Crescent’s ears to hear. He would hum these songs to Crescent when he would have poor mental health days and whenever he wanted them. Crescent never grew tired of Asher’s music, finding it calming and peaceful in his worst moments.

The two stood together for 21 years before Asher grew sick. They were unable to travel to seek treatment, given the two would be caught and punished. Crescent spent all of his time with Asher, even when bedridden for two weeks before his eventual death a month after they had found Asher’s illness. Crescent couldn’t handle himself and, after spending the night after Asher’s funeral beside his gravestone, gathered his belongings and fled the universe.

Crescent then explored the Multiverse’s every nook and cranny as best he could, deciding to occupy himself with living freely and not relying on staying in universes long-term until the 19th century, where he found a castle in a nearby abandoned universe and fell in love with it. He ultimately wished to renovate it and call it home, and did so.

Crescent’s favorite century had been the 20th. He adored the aesthetics and advancements that came with the century, even with the wars and conflicts that rummaged so many universes in these times. It was during this time when he became more comfortable with his sexuality, noting the progression of diversity in most AUs.

Finally, in 2059, Crescent felt an aura of concentrated positivity awaken in the Multiverse. He was eager to see his sister again, and met with her once again in a neutral surface universe. Celeste, however, was not pleased. She claimed Crescent had been overtaken by an evil spirit that harmed the universes and killed her brother and mother, and that what Crescent had become was no longer her brother. She said that she could save her brother from the corruption, and proceeded to attack Crescent without allowing him to explain. Feeling shaken and betrayed, Crescent fled home and cried. As Crescent travelled to universes to gain the necessary negativity he needed to survive, he found Celeste regularly trying to fight him, and was shortly after joined with Ink and a Swap Sans variant. Noting that it would be impossible for him to reason with her, Crescent formed a group of his own over the span of two years— Killer, who would later become his right hand, Horror, Dust, and Cross. These four were what he considered the fighters for the Kingdom of Negativity and, while appearing cold and commanding to the group when travelling the Multiverse, Crescent treats them like family inside of the castle walls.

The War between Celeste and Crescent

Crescent and Celeste never talk during their conflict. The two carry on fighting for years before the Astroloverse timelines begin to shift when Celeste attempts to corrupt herself with her brother’s apple for a reason that Crescent never finds out in the neutral, bad, or true endings.

Crescent had witnessed Celeste’s corruption event when noting she had returned to their home alone. She had been corrupting when he arrived, and Crescent was quick to try and save her from the corruption. During this process, Celeste had noticed the purple in Crescent’s eye, which was a shared trait between him and her brother, grow to become the entire hue of Crescent’s eyelight during the corruption. It was then when she realized that her brother was with her all along, only with a differing appearance.

Crescent fails to save her in three timelines, and Celeste attacks Crescent with her new powers that were clearly beyond her control fresh out of the corruption. Stabbed with positive magic and horrified of what had come of his sister, Crescent flees to the castle and consumes an apple of his own out of guilt, blaming himself for “killing his sister.” He suffers for a few days due to the apple’s side effects before going out to find out more about his now-corrupted sister.

A month after Celeste’s corruption, Crescent meets Dream, who had accidentally created a portal to his multiverse from his own in an attempt to run away from Nightmare after a fight. On guard, Crescent confronts Dream under the assumption that he was Celeste playing a trick on him. Upon telling Crescent that he was not Celeste and indeed just another guardian of positivity, Crescent removes the negative magic from Dream’s wounds and the two talk about their respective multiverses. Celeste eventually does show up, intrigued by the new positive entity in her Multiverse, and a fight ensues, in which Celeste loses. Crescent and Dream surrender to a nearby Outertale timeline, where they share lunch and discuss ways of getting Dream back home. Ultimately, Dream opens a door to his Omega Timeline, bringing both he and Crescent through. Much to Crescent’s excitement, CORE!Frisk offers him a tour of the town, and he happily follows suit, taking notes on the Timeline’s landmarks.

After the tour, Crescent goes off to find Killer, whom he had heard of from Dream during their prior conversations. Feeling pity for him and longing to get him out of Nightmare’s grasp, he speaks with him and manages to get him to listen to him. Much to Crescent’s dismay, Nightmare stabs Killer, forcing him into Stage 2 of his SOUL and commanding him to fight Crescent. Unwilling to harm him, Crescent puts Killer to sleep with a spell and teleports him and two cats with him to another universe. He then attempts to leave back to the Omega Timeline, before being stopped by Nightmare, who believed Crescent needed to be punished for attempting to interfere with his pawn. After putting up a somewhat good fight to Nightmare, Crescent wasn’t immune to the psychological torture he was subject to, and Dream had to come by to break up the fight and save Crescent from Nightmare’s wrath. Crescent rested in the Omega Timeline after some breathing exercises with Dream before returning home. Although he left with pain in his SOUL, he had made a new friend and had a new refuge to go to if he ever needed it.

Crescent then made a truce with Ink, who had broken off from Celeste after she began interfering with the stories of AUs. The two fought alongside each other before finding out they shared feelings for one another a few months later. Crescent was fearful for another relationship due to the grief he suffered when he lost Asher, but after taking into consideration that Ink was immortal as he was, he decided it wouldn’t hurt as badly to form a relationship with him. The two then made themselves official to those around them, and they married a year later.

A few weeks after Crescent’s marriage, Killer was murdered by Celeste during a mission. Crescent could hardly believe what she had done, and figured she would stop at nothing to obtain his power, even if it meant harming those caught in the crossfire. Crescent was ruthless with her, yet Crescent couldn’t stop Celeste from also taking the life of Horror two months after Killer’s death. Distraught, Crescent fought Celeste one final time, to which it is up to the timelines who wins and the outcomes.

Additional information / Trivia

Crescent is 5’0”.

His pronouns are he/him.

Crescent was very fond of the Tree in his childhood, mostly because he saw it as the only connection he had with his Mother. He also considered her to be only person he could talk to about the horrors he endured at the hands of the villagers.

Crescent had internalized homophobia up until the 1900s, when he realized it wasn’t a bad thing to be a gay man.

Crescent loves tea and coffee. He has a caffeine addiction and drinks one cup daily and at least two cups of tea a day.

Crescent has about 200 journals from over the years.

Crescent is quite wealthy. He gets his money from selling antique items he collects and no longer needs, or from stealing from the corrupt and wealthy throughout the Multiverse.

He Cannot Wear Gloves. They are a MASSIVE sensory problem for him and he feels trapped when he wears them.

Speaking of sensory problems, Crescent is autistic and has low support needs.

Crescent has excellent night vision.

Crescent uses reading glasses for the aesthetic.

Crescent suffers from generalized anxiety disorder and chronic depression/persistent depressive disorder. This sometimes makes it difficult for him to perform daily tasks in the castle. His boys and husband help him throughout bad mental health days.

Crescent has awful coping mechanisms and sometimes resorts to self-harming methods, including consuming his apples of negativity [like he had after Celeste corrupted.]

Crescent’s best friend is Dream. He is also friends with CORE!Frisk from both his universe and Dream’s. He avoids visiting the Omega Timeline in the Astroloverse out of fear he will encounter souls of which he has harmed.

Crescent enjoys acoustic music.

Crescent has journals about specific AUs and their varying timelines, such as but certainly not limited to Underswap, Underfell, Undertale, and Underlust.

Crescent enjoys cooking and baking and is typically the one who makes dinner and breakfast at the castle.

Crescent is a Spaniard and his primary language is Spanish. His accent when speaking English isn’t thick, but it is noticeable. His Dreamtale universe was in Spain.

Many people can often tell that Crescent is queer within the first conversation they have with him.

Crescent has rings he often fidgets with and has a close attachment to. Two of them were gifts from his boys, one of them was in memory of Asher, one of them is for Dream, and the other is his marriage ring with Ink.

One of Crescent’s doomed wishes is to be rid of his corruption. He believes it has ruined many opportunities for him. However, should the removal of his corruption be possible, it would kill him.

Crescent rotates between three outfits and a pajama set. Otherwise, he rarely purchases new clothing, mostly due to the fact he doesn’t like breaking out of dressing habits. He will wear other sets of clothing on occasions that demand it, such as his wedding and Halloween.

The blue hue in Crescent’s eyelight is often a ranking factor in how much his corruption is affecting his actions. Typically, when his eyelight is entirely purple, the corruption takes no influence in his actions. When his eyelight is halfway blue and purple, balance is relatively neutral within his mind. This is also most commonly seen. When his eyelight is entirely blue, Crescent’s corruption is influencing all of his actions. Crescent also cannot feel sympathy nor empathy when under the influence of his corruption. Fortunately, his corruption only springs up when he is in heavily negative AUs, when he is feeling heavily negative, or, usually, a combination of both. Sometimes, however, it does take control when it feels Crescent isn’t in a safe environment.

Crescent’s corruption isn’t exactly a character. It is a parasite living inside of Crescent’s SOUL that coats his bones with negative magic and sometimes forces Crescent to act in certain ways beyond his control. It may also dominate his thoughts and feelings. Over the years, Crescent has learned to facilitate his corruption’s desires and needs, so it doesn’t feel the need to step in as frequently as it did in the past.
