Today’s new look! Here is a tutorial so you can DIY!!
f(x)=-1/2l2x+4l-2
Yeah so this is my outfit of the day. Ok so to acquire this look you gotta go through some makeovers. In the end you gonna be looking fly, and if you need a makeover for prom, who you gonna call? Yeah dis girl right up in here. You're going to end up looking:
This look has 5 major blocks.
1) First I got multiplied by 2 inside my absolute value lines so I got horizontally compressed by 1/2. This Horizontal compression happens by multiplying a number |a|>1 to x. Since it is horizontal (happening inside the absolute value lines), you would say it is a compression of 1/a...in this case 1/2.
f(x)=-1/2l
2x+4l-2
2) The second step to get this look is to shift 4 steps(units) to the left. When a number is added inside the A.V. (absolute Value), then the addition of a will shift me to the left and the subtraction of a will shift me to the right.
f(x)=-1/2l2x+4l-2
3) Notice that there is a number before the A.V. This one causes my whole image to vertically compress. I am compressed vertically by a multiplication factor of a for 0<a<1. Here, I am multiplied outside the AV by 1/2 which would be vertical and also a compression.
f(x)=-1/2l2x+4l-2
4) This fourth step is linked with the previous one. You know that before going out you HAVE to check yourself out in the mirror. So what you are going to do is have that number a multiplying everything inside the A.V. be negative. This way you will be reflected on the x axis or the horizontal line. You are one step away from being as fabulous as me!!
f(x)=-1/2l2x+4l-2
5) Finally, notice how I am subtracting a number outside from ALL the previous AV. In this case I will shifting myself down by subtracting a 2. If I was adding, Id shift upwards, but I mean, its your choice.
f(x)=-1/2l2x+4l-2
Ok, now you will have a finished product and girl let me tell you you look fab. Not as fab as me tho.
K bye!
Ps.
My domain will be: (-∞,∞)
Range changes! It's now (-∞,-2)
and now….I’m bounded above at [-2,2], which is my new absolute maximum! Coolio!
I'm never odd... I will always be even, and my continuity will nevah change, ok? It will always go infinitely.
So in conclusion, the good stuff never changes, and sometimes the bad has to change...
