Dehydrated And Tired

I wasn't prepared to love you

I didn't show up with all the necessary tools

I didn't show up on time

I came late, hoping for the best and expecting the worst

I'm here now though

I'm learning your language

Learning your tongue and groove

Puzzling your pieces into mine

Puzzled by the way our pieces don't always fit on the first try

But learning to try again

Because the bigger picture paints a blue sky

In the air I am a Rosy-Faced bird

Winging it

This is not my first flight

From past adventures my wings are tired

I took time to rest on an electric wire

Considered never again reaching higher

The air has changed since then

This new wind beneath my wings smells of honey

And I am soaring above the clouds

I’m here now
