rik is a broken record on blaming thatcher for everything, but so much of what he blames thatcher for is actually thatcher’s fault. and saying that, over and over again on national television every week, in the living rooms of millions of people, when almost no one else was saying it on television, was so important. this show, this superficially stupid disgusting show, was putting two fingers up to the government every week, and disguising it in jokes about snogging and punching each other.
