All Alone
"If youâre tired, we can go back in! Iâll leave you be so you can rest, if you need. Is it my fault you didnât sleep well?â Jane asks, jutting her lower lip out in worry. She probably shouldâve gone back to her dorm. It wasnât quite fair to crash Kovuâs night simply because she was too sleepy to move⌠A blush lights up her ears and Jane looks away shyly. âAh⌠no, that doesnât bother me at all. Itâs actually quiteâŚâ nice. She refused to say it out loud, just continued to blush and squeezed his hand. Seizing the change in topic and turning back to him, her eyes dance. Now he was blushing, and a grin shot across her face. âLunch sounds lovelyâ perfect, actually.â Still grinning and unable to help but press a kiss to his flushed cheek, Jane laughs. âIf you donât mind though, Iâd like to change out of yesterdayâs clothes first.â
His heart dropped at her look of worry and he quickly shook his head, squeezing her hand lightly. "No, no, little dove. It wasn't you. I hadn't been sleeping well for a while, last night was probably some of the best rest I'd had in a while after you got there. Just, last night in general was a rough one." He wanted to reassure her that it wasn't her fault, he really hated how she was so quick to blame herself about those kind of things.
A smirk slowly spread across Kovu's lips as he noticed her blush before a laugh left his lips when she squeezed his hand. Her response made his smirk turn into a grin and he just nodded before reluctantly letting go of her hand to climb back out of the tree. Part of him knew he could easily jump out and tuck into a roll, but he'd rather not have her be pissy with him so soon after he'd just gotten to kiss her again. Waiting at the bottom for her, he nodded his head before speaking. "I agree, I'll walk you back to your room. I call driving, by the way."Â
