i am 18. i am young. my first and last kiss (if you could call it that) was with my best friend. ive never had a real boyfriend (or girlfriend).

ive been a daughter, a sister, a highschool student and graduate. tomorrow i might be a college student, a girlfriend, an aunt, a wife, a mother, and maybe president. but i dont know.

maybe ill be none of those things. but ive come to realize that worrying about them doesn't really affect the outcome. life changes, so i will, while im here and now, take actions that will lead to the outcome i desire.

Maybe I'm biased but I think a lot of the growth happens on hinatas end. And I think this is something that the cannon acknowledges. It is at least somewhat of an issue that hinata relies too much on kageyama. The reason hinata is even a starter is because he has kageyama there to puppet him around.

I think on kageyamas end it's a lot more personal growth. He has learned from his previous team that his actions have consequences. He just doesn't know what other actions to take. He doesn't learn how to be a good team mate until he learned how to trust. On his old team he realized no one was gonna be there to hit his sets and he carries that realization to karasuno. After he developed that trust with hinata he seems to open up much more to the rest of the team. The fact that he can trust that someone is going to be there to hit his sets makes open up and trust the rest of the team and in turn be trusted by them.

I often see posts/aus based around the what if of hinata playing for a different team. And ultimately if hinata had gone to a different school he would not be a starter. When he went into high school he does not have a lot of the fundamentals for volleyball established (not to discredit the work he did before playing at karasuno).

Hinata is incredibly athletic and has great instincts. This is part of the reason that he is able to adapt and grow at the pace we see in the series. He was able to improve his receiving in a way that actually impacted an official match. And he did this in only a few weeks (I'm not super sure of the season 4 timeline). But he was only able to improve so much because he was playing.

On karasuno he is an integral part of the team. Because of that his improvement is often seen as an important step for the direct improvement of the whole team. Sure on teams like inarizaki and seijoh the setters have the skill of being able to bring out the best in their hitters, but Hinata wasn't going to shine on either of those teams. Hinata might be more athletic than both kindaichi and kunimi, but they are way better than him (at least when it comes to some of the fundamentals). But he was never going to get picked to be a starter over them.

Thats why it matters that he happened to go to a school with a desperate team and that kageyama also happened to go to that school.
