"The only thing is" your wife continued "the dinner is at a restaurant almost two hours away, so my guess is that I'll end up staying with him at a nearby motel after the dinner. But don't worry -- there's lots of leftovers in the fridge for your dinner. You don't mind, do you?"

"Do you mean -- you have a date with him -- and that you'll be spending the night with him? At a motel?" you asked.

"Oh my goodness" she replied. "You're jealous! How cute. Well -- don't bother yourself about it, and just don't think about me being with him, if it's going to get you all in a lather. It's really no big deal -- I'm just being a friend to a man who has been going through a bit of a rough patch -- but yes, of course, it IS a date and yes I'll be sharing a bed with him at the motel. But I'll see you tomorrow. Anyway -- it will give you a chance to have some of your poker buds over to play cards tonight."
