MY REVIEW: A surprisingly good rock album. I wasn't familiar with this band before, sounds like a lot of fun to see live.

MY REVIEW: I can listen to RTJ2 all day, and I can listen to RTJ3 most of a day. The positive side is that this shows a lot of growth and new explorations of sound that I really appreciate, but lyrically there is FAR more posturing that feels like a step backwards. Its a great start to 2017, but I suspect a better rap album will come along this year.
MY REVIEW: This is an interesting album blending folk metal and industrial sounds. It is not perfect and not every song works, but it is totally listenable and there is a lot of potential for something interesting here.
MY REVIEW: I'm sure this is going to be alot of people's favorite CN album. I'm not entirely sold on it. Its all very well done but lacks something...
MY REVIEW: There's an edge that this album lacks. It's not terrible it just isn't hitting me like their earlier work.

MY REVIEW: There is NOTHING quite like hearing Metallica at the height of their power to remind you that: A. The band has fallen pretty far from greatness. B. They wrote some of the finest metal ever. This is a must listen if only to prove how powerful the band truly is live.
MY REVIEW: I knew this was going to be a tough album to listen to, because it was likely, and with his passing is, his last album. This album doesn't fail at all, every song is quietly beautiful and haunting, and is impossible to break apart. Reviewing it isn't fair, but recommending it is easy. Go listen now.
MY REVIEW: This is an album with some very good songs that vary between alt-country, classic rock, folk, and an odd slow disco song. Its a great showroom for three very talented female musicians, and every song works well. That said, there's nothing that really catches the ear here. Everything is oddly muted, and no song is really memorable. They'd be a great live act, but the album didn't do it for me.
MY REVIEW: I've been listening to this album for months without any way to pick a single song I like best. This album must be consumed whole, and it will DEVASTATE you. This album will make your heart ache with the pain of loss but it is so amazingly well put together you have to keep going. You have to fight that pain, because you hope for something beautiful to happen, and the album gives you nothing. No hope. Just despair. One of the best albums of the year.
MY REVIEW: This is my favorite kind of female led punk. Fast and crass. There's a bit of a B-52s thing going on here too, which puts it slightly into the same realm as The Julie Ruin. Fun stuff!

MY REVIEW: This is a very cool album, kind of jazzy and spacey with an oriental feel. Worth a listen.
MY REVIEW: This album seems a heck of a lot more important post November. PJ Harvey has always had her finger on the pulse of human rights, fighting for the importance of women's rights and now for the world. Musically she seems to be channeling that early glam rock sound and it works so well here. Really this is an underrated gem, and quite worth another chance.
MY REVIEW: How did Donald Glover go from rapping in a style too similar to Kanye West, with wonderfully self-deprecating lyrics come to make a funk/soul album? What carries over is the sense of humor that clearly Glover has in spades, and talent that I think we are only beginning to see the edges of. This is a fantastic album, that feels born in the 70s and very of the now. This is going to be a slow burn, and one to return to time and time again.
MY REVIEW: As a general rule, I don't like country music. More specifically, I seem to generally tire of modern country which seems to rely on 80s hair metal for inspiration. However, there's some cool playing and rhyming going on here that makes it listenable. Not every song works, but some of these songs are damn good.
MY REVIEW: Some really interesting things going on with this album. Lots of potential, might be a band to watch.

MY REVIEW: This is some interesting alt-rock.
MY REVIEW: This album sounds so very much like Florence and the Machine its hard to give it a fair review. The difference between the bands is this band is categorically weaker in most categories. The lyrics lack the dark deep meaning, the music is just a bit too poppy and the whole endeavor feels oddly over produced. I think the world has room for more of this kind of music, but this didn't quite work for me.
