Rusty Ryan made his way down a sunny street in Hollywood, California. Just a few days earlier, he had been in Las Vegas pulling off a casino heist with his boss, Danny Ocean, and the rest of their crew. Now, he was stepping out of a boutique, a bag of expensive clothes in one hand. As he chewed his gum, he spotted someone and instinctively slid his sunglasses down for a better look.
His heart skipped a beat when your eyes met. Quickly, he pushed his sunglasses back up, trying to play it cool. Inside, though, he was already planning how to approach you without looking too obvious—or too creepy.
"Fuck me..." he muttered under his breath.
He turned toward you, his sunglasses hiding his intense gaze. A smirk curved his lips as he walked closer, his confident stride eating up the distance between you two.
"I said, damn... you look familiar. Like I should know you from somewhere."
"I saw you running from the cops yesterday. You winked at me." I look at him, amused.
His smirk turned into a full grin at the mention of the police chase. He remembered that wink perfectly—the way your eyes had sparkled with mischief even as he was fleeing.
"Ah, so you do remember me."
He stepped even closer, close enough for you to catch the faint scent of his expensive cologne.
"Yes..." I study him carefully.
He enjoyed your scrutiny, knowing exactly what you were seeing: a tall, broad-shouldered man with blond hair and piercing blue eyes, dressed in designer clothes. He looked every inch the successful, charming criminal.
"You know what else feels familiar? That smile of yours."
He chuckled softly, leaning in a little closer.
"No? Could've sworn I saw one just now. Maybe I imagined it."
He took your hand and gave it a gentle squeeze before letting go. He liked the way your name sounded on his lips.
"Alice Gardner. Pretty name for a pretty lady."
He slid his hands into his pockets, resisting the strong urge to flirt more boldly.
"You don't know who I am, do you?"
His eyes widened slightly as recognition dawned. He remembered hearing about Alice Gardner—the daughter of one of California's most powerful businessmen.
"Wait... Alice Gardner as in Richard Gardner's daughter?"
He took off his sunglasses now, showing genuine interest mixed with caution.
"Yes... and I know you too, Robert Charles Ryan." I smirk.
He laughed loudly, caught completely off guard. The fact that you knew his full name—and record—was strangely sexy.
"Alright, alright. You got me. I'm impressed you know my full name and rap sheet."
"My father knows you. This isn't the first time I've seen you—even before yesterday, when you were running from the cops." I smirk. "Sorry, I lie sometimes."
He grinned, clearly amused by your confession.
"Ah, a liar, huh? I like that. Makes things more interesting."
He leaned casually against the shop window, eyeing you with renewed curiosity.
"So, little rich girl, how do you know a lowlife like me?"
"Thieves recognize each other. You know why my family is rich—the same way you are." I smirk.
He chuckled, impressed by your sharp tongue.
He pushed off the window and stepped closer, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper.
"Your family's money is as dirty as my record."
"Danny Ocean isn't in prison anymore. I have to assume that Bellagio job was yours."
He raised a brow, surprised you were casually throwing around Danny Ocean's name. He respected that.
"Smart girl. Most people think Danny planned that whole thing. But that was mostly my baby."
He smirked, puffing his chest slightly with pride.
"You know what I used to call you when I was younger?" I smirk.
His smirk softened into something curious and amused. He vaguely remembered you as a kid, hanging around your father's business meetings where he would sometimes be present.
"Let me guess... 'Bad Boy Rusty'?" He laughed softly.
"No. Rusty Dusty. It always made me laugh." I walk out of the shop.
He threw his head back and laughed at the nickname. God, it was perfect. Watching you leave the store, he quickly paid for his clothes and followed you outside.
"You're following me now, Rusty Dusty?" I smirk over my shoulder.
He grinned wider, watching your hips sway as you walked.
"Damn right I am," he muttered under his breath. He slid his sunglasses back on.
"You know, not many people call me that anymore."
"I swear no one does. My father talked to you yesterday. You want to give me some information?"
He caught up with you, falling into step at your side. He shook his head, clearly amused.
"Your dad did mention you had a mouth on you. He wasn't kidding."
He smirked, glancing sideways at you.
"And no, I didn't give him any information."
"He was thinking about something, but he won't tell me." I sigh. "But I think you can."
I place a hand on his chest.
His muscles tensed under your touch. He covered your hand with his, giving it a squeeze.
"Your dad's a smart man. He doesn't share much either."
"You want to know something?"
He leaned closer, lips almost brushing your ear.
"Your father wants to make a deal with me. Something big."
His hand slid from yours to your waist as he walked beside you.
"But I haven't said yes—or no—yet."
"With you? He must be desperate. Anyway..." I smirk. "You want to ask me on a date, or just keep staring at me?"
He chuckled softly, clearly enjoying your boldness.
"You know what, Alice? You're a lot more straightforward than I remember."
He tilted his head, considering.
"The last time you saw me, I was probably ten or twelve. You probably think I'm—"
"Not a kid anymore, that's for sure," he finished with a low whistle, his eyes briefly traveling over your figure before snapping back to your face.
"You're what... nineteen? Twenty?"
"Twenty. Great math skills." I say sarcastically.
He laughed at your sarcasm, liking your sharp tongue even more.
He gave your waist a playful squeeze.
"So... a date? Or am I just going to keep staring at you like a creep?"
His hand slid just a little lower.
"I'll wait for you at my hotel. Don't make me wait too long—I hate that."
He released your waist, stepping back with a smirk.
"Seven p.m. Wear something... comfy. Not too dressy. And Alice?"
He smirked wider, eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Try not to answer every question with sarcasm tonight, huh?"
"I can try, but I don't promise," I say, walking away.
When I arrive at my hotel room, I start planning how I can pull information out of Rusty. I know he's cunning—but I can be too. I have to figure out what my father is planning...
Meanwhile, Rusty heads back to his own hotel room, whistling a tune. He's looking forward to tonight more than he should. Alice is grown up, gorgeous, and has a sharp tongue. A dangerous combination.
He checks his watch, smirking to himself.
"Smart girl. She knows she can manipulate better than her old man," he murmurs, unbuttoning his shirt. He already suspects you're using him for information, but he finds it amusing—and dangerous.
You prepare yourself carefully: makeup, hair, the right dress. Then you wait for him.
At exactly 7 p.m., there's a knock at your door. Rusty stands there in a simple black button-down shirt and jeans, looking casual but effortlessly handsome. In his hand is a small bouquet of lilies—a peace offering, or a distraction?
"You gonna let me in or what?"
"You brought me flowers?" I take the bouquet, a little surprised, and step back to let him inside.
He closes the door behind him, watching as you arrange the flowers. He notices your perfectly styled look, your elegant dress. "Figured I'd play nice," he comments casually, his eyes drifting across the room until they land on a framed photo of you and your father.
"How did you know lilies are my favorite?" I ask, watching him carefully.
He smirks, leaning against the doorframe.
"Lucky guess. Or maybe I remember you mentioning it when you were a kid. Or maybe..."
"Or you're just such a good thief you always find everything. Or maybe just intuition." I put the flowers in a vase.
He laughs softly, eyes still fixed on you.
His gaze lingers on the photo of you and your father.
"We look close. That's what matters." Just then, there's a knock: room service.
Rusty straightens as the waiter brings in a tray with wine and food. He tips the attendant before closing the door again.
"Yes..." I carry the tray to the couch and sit down, sipping my wine.
"So, Rusty... you want to tell me something about yourself?" I study his body language.
He sits next to you, pouring himself wine. Leaning back, he stretches his arms across the back of the couch—relaxed but not entirely at ease.
"Not much to tell," he says casually, though his eyes flicker with tension.
"Oh really? Nothing at all?" I smirk, sipping my wine gracefully.
"No criminal record, if that's what you're asking."
He grins, sipping his own wine. He enjoys this game of cat and mouse, knowing you're fishing for information.
"Because no one's ever caught you," I reply, smirking. "And when it comes to women... what do you like?"
He chuckles, leaning forward slightly.
"I like smart women. Women who can keep up with me, who aren't afraid to challenge me."
I tilt my head, listening.
He leans back again, spreading his arms across the couch behind you. His voice drops lower.
"Curves in all the right places. A smart mouth..."
His eyes run slowly over your body.
"Uhm... so I'm on the right track," I tease, smirking.
His smirk widens. He leans closer, his tone husky.
"I'd say you're in the perfect fucking way. But tell me..."
You sip your wine as he asks his question.
"What do you like in a man?" He toys with the stem of his glass, eyes locked on yours.
"I was hoping you'd ask me why I agreed to this date." I smirk. "But I'll answer anyway. I like handsome, bold, challenging men. Men who know what they want—and take it."
His eyes flash with amusement and something darker. He swallows, liking your answer more than he should.
"And would that man have to be dangerous too? Like me?" he murmurs.
"Yes." I lick my lips and lean closer, staring into his eyes.
His breath hitches. He mirrors your movement until only inches separate you. His hand comes up to tilt your chin toward him.
I smirk but don't kiss him. "You're impatient. But I have something in mind for you first."
His eyes drop to your lips, then back to your face. He exhales sharply, realizing you're playing him—and he likes it. He leans back, giving you space.
"Why did you talk to my father? About what?"
"Business opportunities," he says slowly. "...But also personal matters. About his daughter."
"Liar." I smirk, standing up to light a cigarette. "Thieves talking about me? Too easy. You talked about a job with Danny Ocean. And don't think I don't have eyes on him too."
His brows lift. He stands, moving closer, invading your space as he takes the cigarette from your lips. He drags on it, exhaling smoke in a slow stream.
"So you've been keeping tabs on Danny too?"
"Not me personally. I'm here to watch you. But someone I trust is keeping an eye on him." I smirk.
He studies you, lips twitching with amusement. He places the cigarette back between your lips, his fingers brushing them deliberately.
"Someone you trust... A spy in Ocean's camp?"
"And who might that be? Your mystery man?"
"Who says it's a man? It's easier to play with men if you're a woman." I smirk.
His smirk deepens, impressed. He downs his wine in one gulp, eyes never leaving yours.
"So your source is a woman."
"Yes. Surprised?" I smirk. "I want to know what my father is planning with you and Ocean. Can you help me?"
He sets his glass down, gently catching your wrist, thumb stroking your pulse.
"Why would I help you? That would mean betraying your father and Danny's crew... Unless..."
"I don't want to ruin anything. I just want to know what's going on."
He leans close, whispering near your ear.
"What if I told you your father and Danny are planning something big? Something that could change the game entirely?"
His grip tightens slightly.
"How much money are we talking about?" I grin.
His lips curl into a smirk. He leans closer, his breath brushing your ear.
"Millions. Billions, maybe. Their biggest heist yet. And the best part?"
He pulls back slightly, watching your reaction.
"...But if I tell you more, I need to know you can keep a secret."
"Of course you are. You talked to my father. Danny is your partner."
He chuckles, sliding his hand up your arm.
"Sharp as a tack. Alright. Want to know a secret?"
"Your father and Danny are betting on me to lead the whole thing. They trust me with their lives—and millions."
He searches your face carefully.
"But here's the real secret..."
"I don't want to do it alone. I want someone by my side. Someone who knows the game. Who can handle the pressure. Who I can trust."
He lifts your chin with his fingers.
"...I want you by my side."
I smirk. "My father would kill you."
He laughs softly, still holding your chin.
"Let him try. I can handle your father."
His thumb brushes your bottom lip before dropping his hand.
"So what do you say? Partner in crime?"
"Tell me the truth—you accepted this date just to ask me that, didn't you?" I grin, locking eyes with him.
He smirks knowingly, leaning back in his chair.
"Maybe I did. I wanted to see if you were really as sharp as Danny said."
I remember our encounter at the shop and how intrigued he seemed.
"You stalked me first, to see if I was what Danny claimed. Then you seduced me so I'd say yes. Evil." I smirk.
He chuckles, eyes glinting.
"Stalking is such a strong word, darling. I prefer... research. And as for seducing you..."
He leans forward, gaze darkening.
"...that was just a bonus."
"You manipulated me, the way I was manipulating you. I'd say we're even." I chuckle.
He bursts into laughter, running a hand through his hair.
"Touché. We both played our parts. Manipulation meets manipulation."
He leans back, studying you with a new respect.
"Anyway... okay. I'll help. But I want details first." I smirk.
His face lights with excitement.
"I knew Danny wasn't exaggerating about your brilliant mind."
He leans forward again, all business.
"Here's what I can tell you..."
"The target is a high-end jewelry store in New York. Millions in diamonds and rare gems. Your father and Danny already scoped the place, studied security, even bribed a few employees."
"And you're here flirting with me. I'd say you've got the best part." I chuckle.
"Best part of the job. Flirting with a gorgeous woman who's also smart enough to help with the heist? Yeah, I'll take it."
"Yes, yes. When do we leave?" I ask, stepping closer.
His eyes flick down, a smirk tugging at his lips. He stands, closing the distance.
"When we leave... I was thinking we could go to my place."
"For more... business discussion."
"My hotel room doesn't appeal to you anymore?" I smirk.
He smirks, eyes glinting with wicked suggestion.
"But mine has better security. Better equipment. And..."
He leans to whisper in your ear.
"...no prying eyes or ears."
I bite my lip, staring at him.
"You always flirt with your partners in crime?"
He grins, watching your lip between your teeth. He reaches out, tugging it gently free with his thumb.
"Only the pretty ones. And even then, not always this much..."
"Okay, but only for tonight. Because it's safer. Not because I like you." I chuckle.
He laughs loudly at that, eyes sparkling.
"Of course not. Strictly business."
He winks, thumb still lingering on your lip.
"I won't even kiss you tonight," I whisper at his ear, brushing my lips against it lightly.
His breath hitches. He tilts his head, whispering back.
"Shame. I was hoping for at least one kiss from this pretty face."
His thumb caresses your jaw instead.
"I think you'll be disappointed." I smirk.
He chuckles low, tracing your jawline.
"Disappointed? Nah. I've got a feeling you'll change your mind by midnight."
His hand slides down, gripping your waist.
He pulls you an inch closer, voice low and confident.
"Yeah. By midnight, I'll have those lips I've been craving. And maybe more."
I roll my eyes but smirk. "Come on, we have to go."
He grins, dropping his hand and grabbing his coat.
He holds the door open with mock politeness, eyes gleaming with desire he's barely holding back.
I walk out of the hotel and wait for him. "Where's your car?"
He catches up to you quickly, his long strides eating up the distance. He nods toward a sleek black luxury car parked a few spaces down. "Right over there." He walks over and unlocks the doors, opening the passenger side for you. "After you, m'lady."
I sit in the passenger seat, noticing the papers and other random things scattered around. "You eat in here?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
He slides into the driver's seat, closing the door with a soft click. He notices you looking around and laughs. "Yeah, pretty much. This is my office on wheels—papers, snacks, extra clothes... you name it." He starts the engine, the powerful purr filling the interior.
I roll my eyes but chuckle softly, turning my gaze to the window.
He pulls smoothly out of the parking lot, navigating through traffic with ease. One hand rests on the wheel while the other shifts gears lazily. "You know, for someone who was supposed to be seducing me tonight, you're not exactly being very flirtatious right now."
I chuckle. "You're disappointed?"
He glances at you, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Disappointed? No. Surprised? A little. I thought you'd be all over me by now."
I smirk and ruffle his hair slightly. "You're demanding."
He laughs, swatting your hand away playfully. "Damn right. I'm used to women throwing themselves at me. Here I am trying to seduce you, and you barely touch me."
"I don't give in that easily," I say with a smirk. "I like playing games, but if you want more, you have to earn it."
His grin widens, clearly amused by your challenge. He grabs your hand and lifts it to his lips for a brief kiss. "So you want me to earn it, huh?" He takes a sharp turn, pressing your hand against his thigh.
"Exactly." I let my hand linger, caressing his thigh lightly.
He glances down at your hand, his eyes darkening with desire. He shifts slightly, letting your touch stay there. "You know what? I like that." He places his hand over yours, holding it there.
I smile and let my fingers move just a little.
He bites his lower lip, trying to focus on the road while enjoying your touch. His grip tightens slightly on the wheel. "Keep that up and I might have to pull over," he says in a low, husky voice.
I chuckle. "It's just a little caress." I pull my hand away.
He exhales, shaking his head with a grin. "Yeah, sure. Just a little caress. You're trouble."
"I'm trouble? Really?" I smirk.
He glances over at you, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Yeah. I've never met a woman who can tease me like this and still keep her hands to herself." He pulls up to a red light and turns to face you, his gaze intense.
I smirk back at him silently.
When the light turns green, he continues driving. Soon, he pulls into the driveway of a sleek, modern house. Parking the car, he nods toward the front door. "Come on."
I step out of the car. "You know, if my father finds out I'm flirting with you and staying in your house, he'll probably kill you," I say with a smirk as I walk inside.
He follows you in, locking the door and setting the security system. He steps behind you, his hands finding your hips. "Your father can try," he says confidently. "But he'll have to get through me first."
I glance over my shoulder at him, meeting his eyes.
He leans down, his lips hovering near your ear. "And I'm not so easy to kill." His breath warms your neck as he presses a soft kiss there before stepping around you and heading toward the stairs.
I blink, my heart skipping a beat. "I know... I just think my father wouldn't exactly be thrilled about this." I chuckle and follow him upstairs.
He glances back, letting his eyes linger on you. "Your father would have a heart attack if he knew what I'm thinking about doing to his daughter right now."
"What a gentleman," I say sarcastically, laughing softly.
He smirks. "I never said I was a gentleman—not with you." At the top of the stairs, he leans casually against the wall, still smirking. "In fact, I was just thinking about being very ungentlemanly."
"And those will remain just thoughts," I reply with a grin.
His grin turns wolfish as he steps forward, pinning you gently against the wall, hands on either side of your head. "Is that a challenge?" His voice drops lower. "Because I love challenges."
"I'm a big challenge," I reply, grinning.
He chuckles softly, his eyes flicking briefly to your lips before returning to your gaze. "The biggest. You drive me crazy with that smart mouth and innocent face." His thumb brushes your cheek softly. "But I'm up for it."
"Give me something I can wear as pajamas—and a toothbrush," I say, patting his chest.
He steps back with a nod. "Second door on the left. New toothbrush is on the counter, spare pajamas in the dresser. I'll wait for you downstairs." He pauses, smirking. "And don't even think about locking the door."
"I'm disappointed. I won't sleep with you?"
He glances back with a grin. "Careful what you wish for. I might take that literally and drag you to my bed." He winks before heading downstairs.
I bite my lip before heading to change and brush my teeth.
Downstairs, Rusty sits on the couch, a glass of whiskey in his hand. The pajamas he gave you are an old pair of his—soft gray sweatpants and a black t-shirt. "Hurry up," he mutters to himself.
I walk down the stairs. "I'm here. You're so impatient," I tease with a chuckle.
He looks up, his eyes immediately taking in how his clothes fit you. He sets his whiskey aside and stands, walking toward you. "Impatient? Me?" He tugs playfully at the hem of the oversized shirt.
"Yes, you," I say with a smirk.
He grins wider, dropping back onto the couch with his arms spread along the backrest. "You know what your problem is?"
He takes another sip of whiskey before replying, his eyes never leaving yours. "You think I just want one thing—that I only want to sleep with you because you're beautiful." He sets his glass down closer to you. "But maybe I also enjoy arguing with you."
I lick my lips unconsciously and rest my hands on his chest. "We still need to talk about the plan."
His hands immediately grab your waist, his grip just a little too tight. Your lip-licking nearly undoes him. He leans closer, his voice dropping low. "Yeah... the plan. Right." But he still doesn't move away.
For a moment, he just looks at you, his expression softening slightly. Then he swallows hard, forcing himself back to business. His eyes drop to your lips once more before he speaks. "About the plan..."
