During his affair with Laurie, she probably taught him how. Once he got the technique right, he'd use his newly-learned skill on Jackie.

And Jackie would question how he learned how to do that.

That answer would be good enough for her.

In @those70scomics , however, Hyde is the first one she experiences this with.

I really wish we got the Filgo’s original S7. Yes, Hyde and Jackie would have been broken up for longer but they would have ended up engaged by the finale and think of all the angsty, they’re-pining-for-each-other scenes we could have gotten instead of a shabbily-written rushed reunion with no additional meaningful scenes/episodes offered to repeat the same exact drama in the final episodes to leave on a cliffhanger that came out of nowhere.

This is fanfic territory. 👀

Realistically, Hyde would want to look for Jackie himself, but he has enough rational influences around him to hold him back.

Donna, Kitty, and Angie : If this guy's dangerous, you'll be no good to Jackie dead.

Eric, Red, and W.B.: I'd want to do exactly what you do. No one would keep me from finding her. But you're in this situation, not me. And that's why I can to tell you not to be a dumbass.

When Jackie dumps him (and explains why beforehand) in "Nobody's Fault but Mine" (5x23), Hyde's face grows red, and the beginnings of tears are in his eyes. That's one of two times he has tears in his eyes in T7S, the other being "Career Day" (1x18).

Maybe a tear or two drops while he listens to that country song while alone in his Camino, just after Jackie leaves. But full-on crying isn't his mode.

Red becomes emotionally calcified over at least a decade if his life, through fighting two wars. He still has a regular (rather than rare) sense of fun when Kitty discovers she's pregnant with Laurie. So when his first love, Eloise, dumps him -- and Red might be as young as nineteen to twenty-one; he's in the Navy by then -- Red bales his eyes out and cries, "Eloise!"
