That ‘70s Blog

Found from an early draft of the T9S Pilot episode, this was originally going to be how we first see Red and Kitty in the new series.

The exchange is hilarious and I nearly did a spit take when I initially read it because of the unexpected and funny flirty banter it was! It really wasn't hard hard to imagine the characters in the scene with this dialogue too. I wish they'd been able to use it in a later episode of the series, like when Leia was coming back for another visit.

But I really adore what was shown in the pilot that aired, Kitty and Red welcoming us back into their home with some fun dancing in the kitchen. It was absolutely adorable and I'll never forget the happiness I felt the first time I saw it played back for us at a taping.

I imagine this would be a "Back to the Future" type situation and could have similar types of jokes and wacky scenarios. I mean, Red and Kitty wouldn't know/recognize any of them, and they'd have to be careful about doing anything that might impact the future.

I don't think Kitty and Red knew each other in high school and may not have even lived in the same city, for what it's worth. Their first meeting appears to be at some party where different branches of the military are in attendance when they're both young adults.

Furthermore, someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it's implied that Red lied about his age to serve in WWII, so he might not even be in the US when he's a teen.

The time period difference would likely be uncomfortable for the kids (Donna and Hyde in particular) and may lead to "Happy Days" type jokes/references.

Yeah, not sure, there's a lot of logistics to work out in order to line up their interactions. But fun to consider!

That said I’ve always wanted to write a Back to the Future style fic of That ‘70s Show where Eric and maybe some other character go back in time and end up messing with the future by getting in the way of how Red and Kitty meet (after all, Red and Kitty agreed to never tell the true story of how they met) I adore BTTF so much though I don’t know if I could really do it justice 😅

NEW Chapter of That ‘70s Show FanFiction

TITLE: STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT CHAPTER 28

Chapter Summary: It's dinner with Kitty, Red, and Jackie where Kitty learns more about The Forman family

Story Summary: After suffering the loss of each their spouses, neighbors Red Forman and Kitty Halpert come up with a sleeping arrangement so that neither one of them have to face a lonely night in their empty houses again.The arrangement causes quite a buzz in their small town as well as within their families.

Red’s daughter Jackie claims she’s never seen him happier. However, Kitty’s son, Eric who is going through his own marital troubles, does not like or trust Red because of Red’s darker past. And though Red gets the approval of Eric’s son, as well as Eric’s best friend and Kitty’s adopted son Steven Hyde, Eric’s dislike for Red does anything but lessen.

Still Red and Kitty continue to spend their nights-and their days-together, and as they learn more about each other their bond grows stronger. Could an unconventional sleep arrangement lead the way to a second chance at love?

Author’s Note: Almost two months later, but here is the next chapter ! Hey, when compared to the previous wait between two chapter, 2 months in progress! 😅 I'm working on it as best I can!

This chapter focuses on dinner with Kitty, Red, and Jackie, we'll learn more about Eloise and hear a bit more of what Hyde has been up to. (More appearances and mention of the kids is coming y'all, stay tuned!)

I mean Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were married but nobody liked the “Deb likes Dexter” arc.

It’s annoying AF. I have noticed less of it though since people found out the actors are awful people.
